Oh dear

Is there such a thing as a classy and well-written historical or modern erotic romance novel? You know something that's not purple prose? But has sexy times and romance in it. My friend is having a problem pregnancy and needs to do a lot of lying about and relaxing and she loves erotic romance novels. I am not very well versed in romance novels either erotic or not erotic. I gave her my two Laura Kinsale novels ( For My Lady's Heart + Shadowheart)but they were not sexy enough and then I gave her my Anais Nin which is not what she had in mind I could tell. I am kind of stumped and don't want to just order some random book from amazon based on some vague synopsis.

Anybody have any recs? Oh, and it needs to be het because my friend is not into male on male action.

Rec: Breaking Bad

I just finished watching the first season and oh my, this show is really good.

It's about high school chemistry teacher Walter White, a bit of a milk toasty character at the start, who gets diagnosed with lung cancer and then he partners up with a former student, Jesse Pinkman, and they start cooking meth together so that Walter's family (he has a pregnant wife and a disabled teenage son) will be financially taken care of. The whole premise sounds utterly depressing what with the cancer, and the chemo, and the whole drug thing - but strangely enough the series is quite funny in parts and the story lines are very compelling, and the acting, especially by the two main actors is topnotch.

Good read

The first 30 pages or so made me feel rather stupid but then I got really caught up in the story. Also, the writing style was very smooth and beautiful to me.

If this wasn't hardcore Sci-fi I would say it's going to be big - so maybe as big as something so genre can be.

Two story recs

http://www.squidge.org/dsa/archive…

This one is a Due South story, a crossover with a source that you don't have to be familiar with to enjoy the fic - indeed not being that familiar made that fic really fresh and compelling to me, I was reading and enjoying without any expectations. The story has slashy overtones but has no sexual content.

This is a Slings & Arrows story and certainly one of the best fan fictions I have ever had the pleasure to come across. There is art and the whole thing is just beyond awesome. And if you think that what befalls the production of the play in the story is far-fetched and wouldn't happen in reality - ha! think again! Real life theater has definitely known rolling slimy heads and vomiting audiences. In one play I saw in my hometown in Germany one audience member got ill from all the fake blood on stage and they had to interupt the performance so that paramedics could attend to the lady.
