before I add my two cents McCallum is not in contract limbo - he has a contract in place.
Hmm, with most other shows I would say the actors are lucky to have a job and make so much money to begin with, but this show is very much the success that it is because of the cast and character chemistry. If CBS PTB think that NCIS is so popular because of the weekly cases - ha!
So I think these actors ought to share in the financial bounty and CBS should do what it takes to keep them. Within reason.
Tiva is the Tony/Ziva ship on NCIS - PTB keep teasing it and it has its fierce devotees and equally fierce opponents. I am not in favour of it.
A) I don't think American network TV does that sort of thing well - it can and has been a showkiller on numerous series to "go there". Audiences seem to prefer neverending UST.
B) On NCIS in particular with its team as family vibe I personally would find any and all sexual relationships between the team inapropiate.
Sexual relationships between main characters can work and can be sustained under certain conditions - but NCIS doesn't have those conditions.
and some episodes multiple times since the USA channel runs and repeats eps a lot - and I remain interested in the show. I understand why millions and millions of people watch loyally, NCIS is like your favourite snack-food or favourite blankie.
However,in general NCIS fan fic is not very good - you know how some fandoms have a reputation for excellence in fan fic? Well, I fear NCIS fic is never going to have that rep. Some of the slash fic is good quality, but it's kind of iffy for me getting into it because the more I watched the more I saw Gibbs as the daddy who loves his children Tony, Abby,McGee, Ziva and disciplines them with occasional head slaps. That puts the kibush on reading about them sexing each other up for me.
David McCallum - Ducky on NCIS - is 75 years old! He looks like 20 years younger (and not in a plastic surgeoned fakey kind of way) especially that smooth skin he has.
An off-line friend of mine had gotten me to watch NCIS, she thought this would be a procedural I might be able to enjoy and stick with (I am notoriously fickle with procedual TV series, usually they can't keep my interest for very long). Well, she was right I watched oodles of episodes, some of them repeatedly, and I am still going strong.
Anyhoodle, my friend ships Tony/Ziva (a big het pairing in fandom) and I told her I kind of ship Gibbs/Abby (if I ship anybody) - laughs, well she spluttered and called me a freak.
But I don't think it's that weird to ship these two - Mark Harmon's Gibbs may no longer be young but he is hot and Abby is a cutie and a sweetie - but mainly Abby is the only one that surly bastard is nice to - he is almost chivalrous with her.
Also, freaks rule! Some of my favourite fictional characters are utter freaks. I am proud to be in the club.
