Organization

last night when I got home from dinner, I attempted to organize the part of my Viv/Larry (Olivier) collection that i have here at my apartment. The other part is at my parents' house, which is more like classic film things in general with a huge emphasis on GWTW. So i got this large 3 ring binder and sheet protectors and put some stuff in there. larger things like LIFE and Vogue magazines and books obviously can't fit in page protectors so I just have those in plastic sheets laying in my book case. But so now that it's mostly organized, I thought I'd take some photos and share. I still have 3 more things coming in the mail from ebay as well as hopefully getting three more on top of that if I win. We'll see. One day I'll organize everything I have together and take photos but for now I'll just list what i have here and things from memory that I have at home. I'll put the Larry/Viv stuff in bold.

So.

70's Avon Bottles

I think the only other people that collect these are old ladies. Lolzzz. The boxes are so adorable, but I don't have the space to display them all, unfortunately.

Most of them are nursery rhyme characters. Though you can't really tell because my pictures suck.

Question!

How do you guys look after your collection areas? Do you dust them often? My area's getting a bit dusty and I'll be cleaning my room this weekend so I'll do it then but some of you have really big collections so what do you do? Take all the items off, give the shelves a dust? Use those duster wipes or something else?
Give a newbie collector a few tips here!

This comm's been a bit quiet lately so I thought I'd make a new entry!

How about you guys, have you got anything new in your collections?

My BA Embroidery Final Project!!

I am asking for your help with my final project on my degree. It’s all about forming visual representations of collections and taking this through to design ideas after lots of drawing and investigating objects. I am trying to form an exciting and diverse collection by asking people from all over the world to send me objects in the post! It can be absolutely anything, the stranger the better! It does not have to relate to embroidery or textiles in any way.

The object(s) need to be:

·        small, no bigger than 10cm square.

·        old or used or with an exciting history

·        inexpensive – I unfortunately can’t send you money in return!

Please send your objects to:       Danielle Goodhand

                                                School of Art and Design

                                                Manchester Metropolitan University

                                                Cavendish Building

                                                Cavendish Street

                                                Manchester

                                                M15 6BG

Please remember to include your name, address and telephone number so I can send you something in return for helping me with forming my collection.

The project will be exhibited in the Embroidery degree show around June 2007, I will post the exact date as soon as I know!

The deadline is the end of May 2007 but the sooner the better really!!

Thanks so much for your help!!!!!!
