To our 'veterinarian' and the board

You are supposed to be working WITH us, not against us.
Vets, yes, I know, you have a busy Vet clinic, one Vet on vacation, therefore are backlogged to hell and cannot 'do anything with the humane society, so stop buggingus'
You were put on contract to assist us. That DOES mean spays and neuters and rabies shots for these animals so WE CAN ADOPT THEM OUT AND NOT HAVE TO WAREHOUSE THEM LIKE WE ARE. Oh, and the whole changing your mind thing...first, it's cats have to be three pounds to spay/neuter/rabies. I asked the guy about that specifically. That is what he said. I had a list of about 20 kittens that fit the 'three pounds and up' Not two days later, I get told 'they have to be FOUR pounds' Ok, that cuts the list about in half. NOW, it's 'they MUST be five months or older' I wonder if you people there realize, we are missing the 'adoption window' for these kittens. Most of them have been here since they were UNDER two pounds. Now, you want us to take in these kittens, warehouse them for four months before we can do anything with them? At five months THEY ARE CATS, AND HARDER TO ADOPT OUT. Again, I know, you are backlogged, down a vet and way to busy to honor any part of your contract with us.
While I won't say it to your faces, I wish you would get your uncooperative asinine idiotish asses out of the contract so the board MIGHT do something.

Except our Board of Directors...again, supposed to be working FOR us? Since our Director left, bills have NOT been paid (I'm suprised we still have utilities) we cannot get vaccinations for the dogs and cats (Vet won't allow us....besides, the bill there wasn't paid either) Food for the animals? So far, we can get that. I made sure to have at least a months worth for the cats. I'm praying we can get more.

Dear Board...while most of you seem to be leaving like rats scuryying off this sinking ship you've made of the Humane Society, I would like you to THINK for a bit. While this is a volunteer job for you, it still would look pretty damn bad, for YOU if we had to close DUE TO UNPAID BILLS AND THE BOARD NOT GETTING THEIR WORK DONE. Now, if you would HIRE a vet, even just part time like our last one. One day, they come in, check vaccinations, do rabies, testing (felv for cats, heartworm for dogs) check the general health of animals, prescribe for those who are sick. One day to spay/neuter dogs, one day to spay/neuter cats. Of course, if you would get a director, that would help too. You've been told this, over and over. Instead, seems you want to close the facility down, so you got the one Vet clinic who WILL close us down (State Inspector said we were very good, Vet says we are under code...who do I believe?)

Sighs....seems it's a good thing I have that other part time job now. And, still have my resume out there. At least morning part time jobs are easier to come by....or a full time job, if it comes to that. Mourns the fact that at least a good half my cats will be put down...if the shelter closes...RIP Charles, Cloe, Dusty, Depp, MiniTab and so many others....

Setup For Failure

At our hotel on the night shifts we have MIN staff and around 6am I'm pretty much the only one here. We also do not have any access to basics such as a hammer or a plunger. This is a huge management suck. And it sets me up to fail. But I'm the one who is going to pay.

Around 6:30am a guest called to say that their toilet is clogged. Well, gee, fuck...nothing I can do about it. See, that's an engineering thing. And no one from engineering is here. I don't have any access to a plunger. Yeah. I offer the use of the public restroom but that is not the answer. So I give them keys to another hotel room that is two floors down because we are nearly sold out and we don't have anything avail on their floor. Oh, yes, you'll have to get the key yourself. You wanted it NOW NOW and trying to call down to the laundry and seeing if anyone is there will take longer and I can't leave the desk.

So the guest is now apocalypticly mad. They have to come down in their bathrobe to get a key to a room two floors down to use the bathroom and there are five people in the room too. I'm now rude and lying because I have no idea when engineering comes in. Could be 7am it could be 9am. They misunderstood when I said no rooms avail (ON THEIR FLOOR) as no rooms at all. Whatever. I'm screwed. Because now there is a MAJOR ISSUE and it's my fault for not handling it correctly. They cannot be consoled. We offer full refunds and all their points back plus 100,000 points and that's not good enough. I could be fired for this. I don't work until Weds but I am just waiting for a phone call or text from my boss...

I hate this job. I am going to be the blame for this when all it could be solved with a plunger. Had an issue with a nail poking out of a door frame. Guest stepped on it. No hammer around to fix it. Why? Basic stuff! No engineering on staff at night. All that stuff is locked up. No keys to it. WHY?!

(no subject)

I've never posted here before because my job and the ever-present sucks that come with it are so convoluted and difficult to explain. These two, though, just got under my skin.

A bit of background: I make manuals, of sorts, and deal with them start to finish - so the creation, editing, and finalizing. These things have lots of client-specific information in them, as well as a lot of items for people to order as needed. I don't communicate directly with clients, but with the account executives for each order (relevant to the first suck). There are two types of manuals, a PDF version which is then put online for "online ordering" (relevant to the second suck).

First suck is small, but boy did it make me angry.

This morning, an AE called me three times in the span of twenty minutes to rush an edit he just requested. Edits can take anywhere from one to three days, and I told him I would fit his in by the end of the day. The third time he called, though? He told me the client was on hold on his other line, and he was keeping her on hold until I made the change he wanted. Didn't matter I was in the middle of something else, didn't matter I had an entire queue backed up with his down the line. His was far more important than anything else I could possibly have been doing and his client was on the phone, waiting - and he was using that to put pressure on me.

In what world is that okay? It just blew my mind.

Why are people so awful sometimes? I do not get it, truly.

Bitch, PLEASE

I have had a long standing dislike/rivalry/hatred with L the other Night Auditor. Being on time is 9/10ths of your job in my book. She's late ALL the time so I've lost all respect for her. It's just rude. Five minutes here and there can be forgiven. But 15+. NOPE. Most places would be like SEE YA!

Anyways. So I have very little patience with her.

She comes in tonight and asks about the $50 envelope in my drawer. I said it was for a guest and they'll pick it up tomorrow morning. She says, no, I'm going to drop it now. I can't have more that $200 in my drawer. I tell her no, leave it for the guest. She asks me who said it? I said D. Well, D isn't a manager, I'm going to drop it. I said, fine, whatever, I don't give a shit what you do L. Then she counts my drawer and says I'm off. BULLSHIT. I counted TWICE.

I go over and recount and found that she had put $1 under the clip of $25 one dollar bills. WTF BITCH. NOT COOL. I recounted. I was fine. She recounted. She said I was good.

FUCK YOU BITCH. She did that just to annoy me because we had a argument over the envelope.

I wrote an e-mail about it to my front desk manager. That kind of shit will not be let slide. That was deliberate sabotage.
