Six Word Challenge - Poem

This week's words from spikesgirl58

Fair
Mitten
Country
Delirious
Glib
Responsible

button down coat meets the kiss of frosty air,

mittens grip the cold of what life prepares,

balance on the rim of who used to care,

tightrope walk between stars if you really dare

*

responsible ceiling kneels down to kiss the floors,

closed eyes reject their way through a million doors,

delirious dimes pay the wage of a payment scored,

broken things break which your glib ignores

*

patient mornings chase through a restless dawn,

fair yellow sun that hearts write their peace upon,

country moments birth a kinder spawn,

harsh places fade when better things are drawn

*

fair the bud and fair the rain, that dangles hope like oxygen,

spring unfolds when winter’s heart won’t bend,

feel the thaw like your life depends,

on these four words…. hey, let’s begin again

Last week's poem, with words from spikesgirl58

Dollar
Fire
Ample
Blue
Shell
Estate

estate sale calls my name, i’m worth a dime, i’m worth a dollar,

blue shores find my grey, push me backwards when I holler,

planted pennies line my fields, their roots grow ever smaller,

my city streets are pastured cows that run from crime and squalor

*

oceans sink like stone, i hide below in stony hollows,

waves fire my sad name, dragged in mud until I wallow,

ample shells declare me sane, their shapes I bend to follow,

the feathered wings that bless the sky send love for me to swallow

Words from the last few weeks from spikesgirl58

Hallway
Nominate
Water
Qualifications
Relinquish
Wait

nominate her as the queen of every lost dream,
she wills the water to turn her into steam,
her liquid qualifies as every solid passes by,
stuck in a hallway, a forgotten door that flies

common sense ain’t one of her seasons,
rhyme relinquishes its throne for sour reasons,
she blazes glory that her plain hills lack,
branches wait for the leaves that time brings back

Skid
Lawyer
Last
Translate
Bit
Wave

skid row summer sinks in like a book’s first page,
words torn from concrete collect their first humid wage,
hot sunshine lawyers, waves of heat they defend,
story’s end sweats like a sidewalks best friend

translate tongues of fire, water words prevent burn,
a bit of winter breeze cries for seasonal turn,
icicle oven broils the last snowflake's decay,
sagging skies steal the wings of the birds that delay

A few weeks words from spikesgirl58

Stream
Macabre
Limit
Gaudy
Crave
Utopian

she colors walls the pallid shade of benign distinction,

icy hearts produce no dragons here,

bedraggled moons are busy craving in their place of limits,

a timid mouth eats spoons of fear

utopia denies its waking hour, flatter plains applaud a mountain’s cower,

time walks home again,

she barters sleep for arid streams, macabre nights rip daytime seams,

gaudy plates serve poverty

Pneumonia
Achieve
Company
Smooth
Ensure
Gallery

pneumonia moon with crippled gaze achieves a coughing glance,

begging the sun most urgently to warm its sick expanse,

shrinking crescent crater eyes, delusion’s wings all spent,

ensures a crooked sunrise grin where rays of health ain’t bent

plump moon’s threadbare gallery where forlorn sleepers graze,

limps its way outside the door, now it’s a past tense phrase,

a healthy tug restarts her dance, rotation time at last,

the company of earth and stars, nothing better can be asked

Words from the last two weeks from spikesgirl58

Accumulation
Catch
Oppose
Rubbish
Leader
Drag

she stands proud in sturdy brick, free from the stagnant mangle of rotting vines,
where river view is not opposed to her devout endeavors,
window’s patient panes catch what remains when time’s accumulation lingers,
devoted pillars of the meek and mighty drag day where night is clever

step not on yielding toes when playful ghosts tag you, you’re it forever,
haunt favored halls with rent’s lament, true money’s dent follows a penny’s leader,
years drag down diamonds like star crumbs on cupcake rubbish,
poets decorate their words on faint facades that decades long to feed her

Question
Horn
Early
Competition
Afterthought
Superficial

she’s sired at midnight in his last starving hour,
weighty vamp’s sweet thirst is quick to devour,
the afterthought of twisted horns is fang’s dark grip,
where moon reflects a frantic maul’s harsh sip

he’s early competition in the scrambled song of fiction,
where muffled screams are silent diction,
tears are vacant tunes,
superficial cries are jagged thorn’s last question to the stars.
stifled screams fill vampire music jars,
colder tunes are born

Art
Abashed
Hard
Prevent
Impel
Stimulate

earth sticks her head outside the window of the long forgotten,
moon impels to backward step’s descent,
muse starts to rhyme when every tongue is hard and sad and silent,
art paints her birds when wings are bent
*
art traced the stars on heaven's walls when earth was just a baby,
muse burped the moon on painted knee,
their stimulated seas are placid lakes that climb an eager ladder,
where morning mounts bring evening steeds
*
wind denied of darkness gains an endless hive of windy wonder,
storms steal the clouds of better days,
art stops decay as she prevents a wrinkled face from forming,
muse is not abashed when word eggs take long to lay

Plant
Halting
Railway
Forecast
Fizz
Space

she sets up camp beneath the pallid stars of almost-maybe,
forecast clings to hesitancy fizz,
feet that drag their way to nothing new are nought squeezed into pennies,
she’s a nothing in a something biz
*
someone else’s dreams are what she sees when nights are dark and plenty,
she fills their whispers to her core,
halting feet stagger when her tears forget their path is lacking,
plants dream of roots that never bore
*
doubt eats her mornings like dessert that can’t remember sugar,
like stolen sweets in lemon skies of sour black,
just be yourself, the doubtful clouds remind her sagging railways,
space trains can’t resist sweet, solid tracks

Swim
Carpet
Snack
Precision
Linear
Inch

tiny birds swim in air of indecision, loose hairs deny precision’s endless mane,
inches stretch their caution in a mile-long game,
word’s snack on skinny pen’s denial, my muse whispers helpful things but i just can’t hear,
frail pennies cry when every letter’s cost ain’t clear
*
carpets search for latent magic when i’m lost, hens lay doubtful eggs of empty thoughts,
rhymes of lack linger where they’re mostly sold and bought,
doubt sells my tears to charity, the highest bidder snags the dregs of linear debris,
patience promises to lend its currency, someday inspiration will return for free

Last week's words from spikesgirl58

The words:

Strap
Straighten
Simplicity
Judge
Shame
Activate

she runs her fingers along my book spine four times, once for each season,
i won’t forget that,
She always gives me a reason, respect comes so easy,
my cover likes that
*
words grow strong when my time clock spins, they range from grim
to matter-of-fact,
years make me lose what you straighten, shame's strap keeps erasing
pride’s ancient act
*
simplicity reigns, activate all my weather, judge things too clever,
watch my thick pages grow,
dim light is evening’s delight, your feral candle takes flight,
watch my epic words glow
*
autumn drags away a summer read, spin my yarn till fingers bleed,
the kiss of tape on my battered page,
grains of sand line well-worn phrases, turning leaves read turning pages,
wandering eyes start a reading phase
*
finish me and questions leave your observant door, thick plot done and you don’t need more,
goodbye, the end
i say no, don’t leave, i’ll never forget you, my words will always protect you,
you say ok, my book friend

Damaging
Male
Special
Rain
Gentle
Mark

special males are born when secret skies give birth in pixel moonlight,
sentience meets the tin of sterile you,
circuits leak their dreams into the sauce of our bland collective,
we’re drenched in your eternal barren brew
*
trading flesh for metal is like ruins playing in the shadows,
the sag of rigid space becomes unglued,
scratchy tears of rust corrode like rainy drool of dermal damage,
the thread of life becomes unspooled
*
special females hatch when starlight cracks the code of something better,
lady android bows her gentle head,
mark all the ways that she exceeds the dreams of tainted brothers,
from sweeter waters she is fed
