WELL FUCK.

What I've been doing: Deleting all locked posts from the LJ (slowly, as in a month or two a day), leaving the fic public as-is, and adding comment footers linking to the DW entry, with the intent that when that process is finished I will close all commenting on the LJ and will abandon it, only to continue crossposting public fic from here at DW.

And now I'm tempted to delete the whole fucking journal, because it's a fucking lot of work to change links and add comment footers. I'd delete all entries, save for a single post directing people to my fic index on DW. And explaining the Great LJ Fuckery of 2010 as the reason why.

Yeah, as I said on Nightdog's LJ--breaking everybody's links would be a harsh thing.

So I guess it's changing links in my fic index post, and adding footers, for me. You know, later, after I've gotten some work done today. :)

There's a computer program that you can download for mass editing LiveJournal entries. You can mass change access to entries (switch them all to Friends Only, for example) and the like. I used it to delete all of my entries except a few.
zulu and bell have the link, which I have now forgotten (blush)

OH, that...would be very helpful. :) If only for deleting entries, because starting in 2008 I began to post more frequent 'everyday' entries, so my progress has slowed down some. Heh.

You are correct, yes.

This only appears on public entries, while you can crosspost to Twitbook from ANY entry, but it is still evidence that LJ wants to link us to EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE.

So would a public entry be one that is non-flist locked or one that is posted to a community?

Both. If it's a public comm (i.e. not members-only) or a public, non-f-locked journal entry, reposting to Fark, Buzz, etc. is now a SNAP!

Damn, they're piling stupidity on top of stupidity. Even though I'm not in the same league as you folk who do a lot posting and there is very little likelihood of anyone ever wanting to crosspost any of their comments to my few entries I am SO glad I moved it's unbelievable.
