2007 diet?

Hello everyone,
I just found this community, and one might say that I'm a bit late since we're just days away from the end of the year. I was wondering if this community is going to go on as 2007 diet? I, for one, would love to be a part of it, for some much needed motivation after the holidays!

T-Minus TWO MONTHS!

So, we're two-ish months from the end of the year, and I'm wondering how the rest of my 2006 diet pals are doing?

I haven't done a recent weigh in (the last one was at the Doc a month or so ago), but I did just have to go and buy new jeans -- same brand I've always worn, same style, but literally HALF the size! Very, very exciting.

I'm really going to work on portion control and food choices, because I really wanted to get to about 160 by the end of the year, which gives me at least another 10-12 pounds to lose. And it seems to get harder the futher along I go. So, retrenching and rededicating and all that good stuff.

How are the rest of you doing? Successes? Setbacks? Post and let us know!

Anyone here tried Yoga...what do you think of it? Does it calm you? Does it make you feel stronger (both mentally and physically?)

I'm tempted to try it...I have alot of stress at work and I'm in need a good way to get rid of it...also I need to tone up bigtime...I've gained a bit of weight and I'm frustrated with myself for that but the more I try to lose it the way of the gym sometimes the more I get frustrated with myself...it sounds crazy but I'm thinking of trying yoga to branch out and try something different so I'm just curious to know what others might have thought about it...

This might sound a bit crazy to some but I swore at one time I read that you burn more calories in really hot weather and really cold weather...does anyone know if that is true?

The reason I'm asking is yesterday I biked 36 miles and the temp was 100 degrees F...didn't realize that until I saw the news that night...It took me 3 hours to do and it felt great...Biking is my way to destress and to get some exercise...I'm just trying to figure out about how many calories I burned...I figured it out according to different websites but I'm wondering if the heat changes that.

Only ran 1.45 miles today at the gym. Shin splints started RIGHT away and I should have stopped but I worked out for 25 minutes. I have to take a few days off. My body is rather sore.

1.75 miles Thursday walk/run 1/2 & 1/2 - treadmill
2.2 miles Friday walk/run 1/2 & 1/2 - outside
2.75 miles Sunday walk/run 2/3 & 1/3 - outside

I was doing a 75 Day Challenge on myspace.com, but I wasn't really keeping up with it and I found that I actually hate being the moderator and trying to keep everyone else motivated when I can't even keep myself motivated. The last couple of days I've picked up running. I'm doing a couch to 5k traning program from coolrunning.com. I've actually found that I enjoy running (well running/walking as it is now). It's really pushing my body, which is what I need right now.

So I guess this is me recommiting to my inital goal this year. I'm not as concerned with food at this point, though overall I do try to stay at around 1500 calories per day.

I am going to be cycling my calorie intake. Should I make the lowest calorie day the day before I weigh in (sunday)? Or will it not matter and all even out? I'm worried that I won't show losses if the day before I WI is higher. I don't try to eat less now the day before I WI but now I'm trying for (and failing at) around 1600 each day and the cycling calls for a range of 1480 to 2130 depending on what day...Help?
