Located 20 kilometres east of the Ross River Resort. Tommy's Gap is about 100 kilometres east north-east of Alice Springs. Discovered and explored in the 1960's, viewed as un-economic, then forgotten about. No existing tracks could be identified going to the location.

Prospector Mick McIntyre from Halls Creek W.A. owned the lease in the 1960's, and managed to convince CRA Exploration to investigate the deposit in 1965. McIntyre took out 7 tonnes of ore at this time. CRA left shortly after, and the site was investigated by Exoil/Transoil. Both companies found very little worthwhile.

The deposit is at the southern edge of the Giles Creek Synform. It was described as malachite stained gossan and patches of carbonate ore zone in chlorite schist and marble like limestone. The lode formed a concave shape facing north.Overlying the lode, which had a poor outcrop, was the Heavitree Quartzite. The east end of the zone was terminated by amphibolite, and porphyritic granite. The west end finished at a large creek. Dense limonite lenses are found in the lode, numerous quartz veins, with fine pyrite, trace arsenopyrite, and gold, and very low copper values.

Rum Jungle Uranium was planning to construct a road to the prospect in 2010 for drilling rigs. No road could be seen on Google Earth, unless the satellite images are older than 7 years.
