Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Visual arts
| Points of interest related to Visual arts on Wikipedia: Portal – Category – WikiProject – Alerts – Deletions – Cleanup – Stubs – Assessment – Style |
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Visual arts. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Visual arts|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Visual arts. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
| watch |
For Visual arts listings only:
- A simple tag to put on AfD discussions as an alternative to the coding given above under "tag an AFD" is:
- {{subst:LVD}}
- It displays exactly the same message, but is easier to remember.

Relies excessively on local newspapers, rather than state/national titles, to assert notability, and the state newspaper source listed doesn't mention the art collection (and I can't find any more that add to its notability in Wikipedia terms). There has been much promotional editing relating to its founder over the years; see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Wazdanny. Graham87 (talk) 05:56, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

- It seems the listings & coverage make the house notable. Convert to an article on that. The collection seems more doubtful, with only two artists with articles mentioned. Johnbod (talk) 13:16, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- Re the listings: the Subiaco Local Heritage Survey is localised (i.e. based on the local government body that manages a small part of the Perth metropolitan area) and the house is not on the List of State Register of Heritage Places in the City of Subiaco (if it was that would definitely confer notability). I can't find much on the National Trust designation except that it was classified by them at some point, but it turns out that we do already have an article about the broader Chesters' Subdivision Conservation Area. Graham87 (talk) 15:21, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- Since this isn't something I know a huge amount about, I've asked for more comments at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Western Australia#Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Fairview Art Collection. Even to me this feels like borderline canvassing though because I know that people watching that page might not be kindly disposed to this article due to the history here (which is why I didn't notify them before), but I'm not sure what else to do in this case. Graham87 (talk) 15:33, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hmmm it seems that the National Trust list of classified places isn't publicly available but there are about 1700 of them. Graham87 (talk) 15:38, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- Despite the name, the National Trust list of classified places doesn't appear to be an official government or state listing body, so I don't think being on their list is like a UK listed building or US Historic building, a do-it-yourself job it appears Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:10, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

- Comment - I was going to say that the house itself may be notable, but it appears not. It seems the article was mainly used to promote the artists in the collection (by sock puppets), but it's doubtful the collection itself is notable outside of its local community. Will do a little poking around on the internet before !voting. Netherzone (talk) 16:50, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
- Delete - As an organization, it needs to meet WP:NORG, not just GNG. Notability for organizations has a higher bar than GNG. The subject fails essential NORG criteria for WP:CORPDEPTH and WP:SUBSTANTIAL and in particular WP:AUD. Netherzone (talk) 02:01, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

Artist, not much in the way of reliable sources. Most edits are either done by himself, or single use accounts. Feels like a vanity page. Granted I don't know enough about glass blowing and art museums to know if he qualifies for WP:CREATIVE (substantial part of a significant exhibition, won significant critical attention, been represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums). - Comment - I'm finding quite a few hits for him on Google Books - in books dealing with animation and cartooning. But because of Google Book's @%$#&! "snippet view" I'm unable to determine which of these might constitute WP:SIGCOV. The Emmy award is a notable award, so I'm wondering if that is enough for a pass of WP:ANYBIO or if it would be considered WP:BIO1E/WP:BLP1E. Netherzone (talk) 18:25, 8 December 2025 (UTC)

However, I'm convinced that he is notable based on his long history of producing and directing, the awards, and his work as a mentor to others. Netherzone (talk) 15:35, 15 December 2025 (UTC)

This person does not appear to meet WP:GNG or WP:NARTIST. Of the sources in the article, three are from Wellesley College, where Frisch taught, and thus not independent coverage. The banner at the top of the 21centuryantiques.com article says they were "commissioned to represent" Frisch, so that's definitely not independent coverage either. My search on Google does not turn up any better sourcing. My search on Newspapers.com does turn up a few hits, with the two best matches I found being from The Day: a 1980 obituary and a 1962 profile of an art exhibition at Wellesley College. All the other hits I looked at were passing mentions ("Frisch exhibiting here on this date" type blurbs). Overall, I'm not seeing enough to establish notability. - It's worth noting that the museum in question, the Davis Museum at Wellesley College, is run by the institution she taught at. Zeibgeist (talk) 06:56, 15 December 2025 (UTC)
- Comment, slightly curious one here; was she related to Theresa Grace Frisch who taught at Wellesley at the same time? Theresa Grace was an expert in mediaeval art and is a published author, making it easier to justify an article about her. Did Elizabeth Holmes Frisch actually publish academically, or just teach painting? Elemimele (talk) 10:45, 15 December 2025 (UTC)
