LoreEdit

EtymologyEdit

Wight refers to a spirit, ghost, or any other supernatural being.

DesignEdit

Due their common appearances as skeletons with no identifying characteristics aside from the outfits, most Wight monsters may be considered retrained forms of the original "Skull Servant", having the same Type, Attribute, ATK, and DEF. Many depict it in parodic clothes and/or contexts.

Playing styleEdit

This Deck's main strategy is to populate the Graveyard with monsters who treat their name as "Skull Servant" to have a "King of the Skull Servants" with up to 26000 ATK.

Cards with effects that send a monster from the Deck to the Graveyard, such as "Foolish Burial", are used to populate the Graveyard with "Skull Servant" and cards treated as such in order to increase the ATK of "King of the Skull Servants". Due to this their is also the option of playing "Phalanx Pike" to take advantage of the Wight's name changing effect to bolster the ATK of original "Skull Servant". "Wightprince" and "Wightbaking" have effects that activate when sent to the Graveyard, which either send Wight monsters to the Graveyard, or add them to the hand, while "Wightlord" is used once these prior monsters have substantially filled the Graveyard in order to mill as many cards as possible. "Wightbaking" is the key starter to the deck, as upon going to graveyard it can add both of the other mentioned monsters to the hand and then discard "Wightprince" to proc it's effect. Since "Wightbaking" is a Level 1 it can be summoned and then sent to the Graveyard for a Link-1 monster such as "Linkuriboh". The decks other starters are "Moissa Wight", as well as cards that can send "Wightbaking" to the Graveyard, such as "Uni-Zombie" or "Samurai Skull". Due to the decks heavy focus on placing a large number of Zombie monsters in the Graveyard, "Ween, the Spirit of Treats" can be implemented as an additional boss monster, while "Mezuki" can be key as a way to revive the "King of the Skull Servants", or one of the other high ATK options.

The advantages of this Deck include its ability to produce extremely high-ATK monsters very quickly (which may not be affected by Spells or Traps if "The Lady in Wight" is on the field, and could potentially go as far as to have immunity to destruction effects if "Archfiend Zombie-Skull" has been set up), as well as its resilience in Summoning said monsters repeatedly.

Engines that provide milling are also beneficial in the deck, such as the "Horus" cards with "The Zombie Vampire", or "Fiendsmith" for "Pilgrim Reaper".

Due to the decks emphasis on sending as many of its cards to the Graveyard as possible, it can be hybridized with milling archetypes such as "Tearlaments" and "Lightsworn".

Historically, the deck also used Zombie support cards that was powerful at the time such as "Zombie Master" and "Goblin Zombie", making it a meme variant of the usual Zombie Decks that made up the metagame.

WeaknessEdit

A major weakness is its total reliance on the Graveyard. If "Macro Cosmos" or "Dimensional Fissure" is in play, it can easily ruin your ability to power up "King of the Skull Servants". This was partially solved thanks to "Wightmare", which is capable of returning "Wight" monsters that are banished back to either the Graveyard or Summoning them to the field in exchange for discarding itself - especially helpful as it does not need to reach the Graveyard itself to work.
