MechanicsEdit

OCG/TCG/Rush DuelEdit

When an Attack Position monster battles, its ATK is used during damage calculation.

A monster's printed ATK may be 0, a positive integer (observed to never exceed 5000), or ?. By default, a monster's printed ATK becomes its original ATK upon being summoned, i.e. the monster's ATK before being affected by card effects. Card effects can change a monster's original ATK or its on-field ATK; there is no upper limit for a monster's ATK, but it cannot go below 0.

MAXIMUM ATKEdit

In Rush Duel, Maximum Monsters have MAXIMUM ATK, which they use while in Maximum Mode.

Card layoutEdit

TCG/OCGEdit

In the Series 1 and 2 layouts (only ever used in Japan), the ATK of a Monster Card is displayed in the upper of the ATK/DEF boxes, located in the lower-right corner of the card, to the right of the card text box.

From the Series 3 layout onward, the ATK of a Monster Card is displayed in the lower right corner of the card text box below a horizontal line, to the left of its DEF.
