Turns out Cohost is not for me

yantantetherI got approved for Cohost quite quickly and had a brief hour of being excited about it.. and then realised that, not only is there no app (which is fine), there are no email/other push notifications when anyone comments or replies to you. So the site just expects you to be logged in and on there all the time to know from the notifications page if someone wants to talk to you? LJ was doing comment notifications when I joined 15 years ago, so this feels retro in a bad way and not workable for the way most people want to use social media.
So I'm still here and I'm also back on twitter because I couldn't stay away - I love twitter not only for the moots I chat with, but also for all the fanart by international artists and the accounts who do wonderfully helpful things like taking Z1L and BY content from weibo and sharing it on there, and I don't think that stuff is going to go elsewhere anytime soon.

Date: 2022-12-23 12:20 pm (UTC)I wanted to like Cohost more than I do, but didn't bond with it at all in my (admittedly brief) attempt at actually using it to keep up with people. :/ (I don't think I actually posted a single thing.)
I'm enjoying Mastodon a lot in its own right (after fully expecting not to), but since nothing is actually a replacement for Twitter and the people still there, I'm still keeping up on Twitter too. ^^; So I'm definitely not spending less time on social media than before. Whoops?
