Women, newborns, children and adolescents should have access to safe, quality care. During a one-week mission, @WHOEMRO is working with @WHOSyria and @SyrMOfH to review progress, identify gaps and strengthen maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health and nutrition services.

With generous support from the @Korea_Leb_Syr , @WHO in collaboration with the @SyrMOfH, has delivered 35 dialysis machines to hospitals and dialysis centres in Rural Damascus, Ar-Raqqa and Deir-ez-Zor, helping sustain life-saving treatment for thousands of patients across Syria.

With support from @eu_echo, @WHO delivered 100,000+ dialysis sessions across Syria this month, with 65,000 more on the way. The support also enabled the delivery of 10 dialysis machines to Homs Grand Hospital, helping people living with kidney disease access the care they need.

The @SyrMOfH, with @WHO, concluded a workshop with over 75 participants to finalize Syria’s 2026–2030 Substance Use & Addiction Response Strategy. The strategy will guide coordinated action to improve access to quality health services and reduce health impacts of substance use.

HIV testing helps people know their status and get support early. With @SyrMOfH, WHO trained 27 healthcare providers and AIDS programme officers from across #Syria on HIV self-testing, helping make testing easier to access and linking more people to care.

Recent floods in Deir-ez-Zor have made access to health care harder, with emergency referrals particularly affected. @WHO is supporting 3 referral points through 10 ambulances with @SyrMOfH and partners. Supported by @eu_echo.

Frontline health workers are often the first to support people during emergencies. With funding from @eu_echo, @SyrMOfH & WHO trained 75 ambulance, community health & vaccination workers from Deir-ez-Zor, Raqqa & Dar’a on psychological first aid, self-care & referrals.

Mental health care must be available closer to people and communities. This week, with support from @eu_echo, WHO & @SyrMOfH trained 25 health workers in Deir-ez-Zor to better identify, support and refer people with mental health needs through primary health care.
