Program Notes

Flight is an imposing contemporary work that is suitable for festival and/or mid-concert performances. Bringing dreams and thoughts to life, the program piece tells a story of one’s journey through the heavens on a plane, from take-off to landing. The theme of the entire work comes from the melody at the beginning of the overture with the French horn. As the story unfolds, the theme is continuously echoed in some way until the epic conclusion where a new form of the short overture is played to portray the plane’s arrival. This exciting composition was written for the kind-hearted and spirited. We all need the courage to fly!
