Program Notes

Artheon is a name I created to represent a place that can no longer be physically returned to, yet one that lives vividly and warmly in memory. The world blends “arth” suggestion earth, hearth, homeland, and autumnal warmth, with “-eon” implying an age or a season of time that has passed. Together, Artheon becomes an “age of the earth” – a lived chapter of life that still breathes within us even though it is gone.

In this piece, Artheon represents two such chapters: visiting my late uncle and playing in the park near his home, and attending the Harvest Festival in my hometown as a child. The park and festival may still exist, but the versions of them shaped by childhood innocence and the presence of someone now departed do not. Rather than dwelling in sorrow, this work embraces gratitude, honoring those moments as sacred and formative. Artheon is therefore not about loss alone, but about the quiet joy of remembrance -- a return through music to a season of life that continues to glow gently in the heart.
