In Memoriam: Barbara (Sweet) Schaad was an active and generous member of WikiTree. Their presence in our community will be missed. However, their many contributions will live on as part of our shared family tree. This is a gift they gave to family members, distant cousins, and future generations, and is now a permanent part of their legacy.

MY PURPOSE in joining WikiTree is to include as many of my family as possible in this world-wide tree. I am not interested in all the sourcing unless it resolves conflicting information. If I must include all my sources (translated into the correct format) and categorize all my relatives (in a sometimes inconsistent and incomprehensible manner), I will not achieve my primary purpose before my eye sight fails me. Please be happy with what I can contribute to our common tree.

Biography

Barbara Lea Sweet was born on 19 May 1935 in Crawfordsville, Linn County, Oregon, to Mamie Helen Hughes and Jule Everett Sweet. She was the fifth of their six daughters. When she was ten years old the family moved to Beaverton, Oregon. She graduated from Beaverton High School and attended Portland State University. On June 15, 1958 she married Lewis Hyde Schaad at the Beaverton Methodist Church. They lived in Corvallis, Benton County, Oregon where their four children were born. About 1995 they moved to Newberg, Yamhill County, Oregon where Lewis helped his father on the farm.

I am semi-active in the Oregon Cemeteries Project and working on the Oak Grove Cemetery in Yamhill County. I don't want to resign until I have all my cemetery photos posted on WikiTree.

I have some constraints do to my vision (MD) and my health (old age).

I never had a mentor in this and I still could use a person who would help me with all my little questions. And I've never gotten onto a google group (nor told where to apply).

So I think I've felt isolated -- even before COVID-19! Barbara

Hi Barbara -

I was editing the profile you mentioned, Halbgewachs-3, to correct database errors. I did not add any sources and have no further research on this person.

You can review exactly what changes someone made from the "Changes" tab.

I corrected some template formatting with an additional '=', and also corrected the places of birth and death to conform with site standards.

The word "County" does not need to be in the place of death as this creates a database error. As does the German spelling of his place of birth when the language of the profile is not set to German. I have reverted these changes you made after I corrected the profile's errors.

The immigration categories are about to undergo a massive overhaul, so stand by, there will be more changing in the future. For now, I've reverted to "Canadian immigrants to America" but that will eventually change. Thanks!
