In Loving Memory of William K. Foster
It is with great sadness that we remember the passing of William, who left us too soon at the age of 58. A passionate genealogist, William dedicated countless hours to uncovering the threads of history that connect us all. His contributions to WikiTree were immeasurable, and his meticulous research and unwavering dedication have left a lasting legacy for generations to come.
William had an exceptional ability to bring history to life, weaving together stories of ancestors long past and creating connections that might have otherwise been lost to time. His work on WikiTree was not just a personal pursuit but a gift to the entire genealogy community, fostering a deeper understanding of our shared heritage.
Beyond his research, William was a kind and generous soul, always willing to lend a helping hand to fellow genealogists and enthusiasts. His enthusiasm was contagious, and his encouragement inspired many to embark on their own journeys of discovery.
On a personal note, I was honored to call him a distant cousin. Our shared ancestry was not just a fact in a family tree, but a connection that brought warmth and camaraderie. His passion for genealogy helped bridge the gap between past and present, reminding us all of the importance of knowing where we come from. Over the years William communicated and sent me many important documents regarding our shared family.
While his passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, his legacy lives on in the countless records, stories, and relationships he helped uncover. We take comfort in knowing that his work will continue to inspire others to explore their roots and cherish their family histories.
Rest in peace, dear William. You will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

Is there a way I can manage her account after the merge, since it's my mom? I'm New-2242. We don't share any dna, maybe because the possible connection is 17 steps? away.... Thanks!
I sent you a check-in message 18 days ago about the US Southern Colonies Project to ask you about your continued involvement but have not yet heard back from you. Do you still want to be in the Southern Colonies project? If I don’t hear from you by the same time next week I’ll assume that you’ve moved on to other things but you’re most welcome to re-join the project at any time.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Best wishes,
Mary~ Project Coordinator, Membership, US Southern Colonies

I am checking in on behalf of the 1776 Project to announce the new project membership requirements and to verify that you are still interested in being a member of the project. All project members are being asked to join one of the project teams and also to make at least one project contribution every 6 months. We are also asking all project members to join the project's Google Group for project communications.
If you are interested in remaining with the Project, please reply to this comment or send me a message, request to join the Google Group, and let us know what team you would like to participate on.
We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hard work. If you have any questions, please ask. We would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project.
If we don't hear back from you we will assume that you no longer wish to participate in the project and if so, you could rejoin at any time as is convenient for you.
We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hello William, Sorry, I did not mean to imply another merger for there is none. I had just reviewed the Joel Knight profile and since He has the same birthday thought it could happen. Maybe I should stop looking. : > ) Do you mind if I write a biography for Joel King? Lula Tuttle Sinnott
Yes, please work on the biography for Joel King.
Thanks.
-William
Hi again, William Foster,
I looked at the Joel Knight profile and I believe it to be a legitimate person, with all the right information. Just that the Joels got mixed up but haven’t figured how yet. I hope a further merger is not pursued. This concerns me. Lula Tuttle Sinnott
Thank you for your participation on Team Virginia in the July 2021 Connect-A-Thon. You helped bring Team Virginia to an amazing 2nd place finish. We could not have done it without you! Save the Date: October 1st through 4th, Source-A-Thon (with amazing prizes!)
You will notice that Amy Lynn Hunt has just joined your project. She joined Wikitree "hoping to learn something new" (I have no idea what). The instruction to new members is "start with your own family," so she has been painstakingly adding her family, which is now on FamilySearch. And not surprisingly got very frustrated. It would be nice if you coud take a look at her profile and her family, and then send her some encouraging words. Familysearch is a lot easier if I all want to do is create a family tree, but Wikitree is a lot friendlier, a lot more interesting, and a lot more fun. --Thank you.
Thank you for your participation in October 2020’s Source-a-thon. Your contributions helped us to clear over 57,000 profiles that needed sourcing. This makes our Shared Tree all that much better.
Keep up the great work!
Pippin Sheppard WikiTree’s Appreciation Team
Thanks for your participation during our Connect-A-Thon 2020. It is amazing how many more profiles were created and added to our Shared Tree over the weekend. I hope you’ll join us for the Source-a-thon this fall.
Kind regards,

Am a descendant of many earlier West Virginia settlers who came during the time of the creation of the state--late 1700's to 1863. This creates problems because of the way it was create from part of Virginia, then it was broken down into counties overtime. What this did had settlers who lived in the same area but birth/death/married/events as location changed across creation time of the state until 1863. Catherine Hardman-881 is and example. Is there a way we could created a subcategory to help folks in research since the West Virginia records are kept in the final location of the person. Here are sources with the date of county formation after the breakup of the District of West Augusta in 1784 which became Monongalia, Ohio and Youghany which was the parent counties https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_counties_in_West_Virginia.
