About Us

Westside Current is the only hyperlocal news source dedicated to investigative reporting, breaking news, and in-depth storytelling that matters most to the residents of Venice, Marina del Rey, Mar Vista, Del Rey, West LA, Brentwood, Playa del Rey, Playa Vista, and Culver City.

We are an independent newsroom with a dedicated team of journalists committed to providing accurate, timely, and impactful news that directly affects the communities we serve. From city government and public safety to housing, business, and environmental issues, we cover the stories that shape life on the Westside.

As of October 2025, Rachael Gaudiosi leads the newsroom, taking the helm after founder and editor Jamie Paige’s departure. Paige, an Emmy-nominated journalist with two decades of experience, built Westside Current into a trusted source for investigative reporting and accountability journalism. Gaudiosi, with her own extensive investigative experience, continues that mission—ensuring local voices are heard and those in power are held accountable. Under her leadership, the newsroom has continued breaking significant stories, including exposing the surge in surplus revenues among nonprofit homeless service organizations as the crisis deepened and taxpayer funding increased.

At Westside Current, we believe that news should inform, engage, and empower. We provide the Westside with the coverage it deserves—because local journalism matters.

LOS ANGELES  —  People across the country united for a common cause on April 18: Earth Day cleanups and conservation projects organized by We Explore Earth. The nationwide events removed more than 2,000 pounds of trash from natural and public land and culminated in local celebrations, the largest of which was in L.A. The nonprofit hosts year-round programming, creating exciting and educational outdoor experiences to help people connect – and give back to – nature.

LOS ANGELES — Michelin has added four Westside-area restaurants to its California Guide, giving new statewide attention to a Mar Vista French bistro, two Sawtelle restaurants and a Pico-Robertson tasting menu spot ahead of next month’s awards ceremony.

LOS ANGELES — The County may soon face a contempt of court hearing alongside the City, a new report in the LA Alliance homelessness case warns.
