Soooooo. I had this kinda insane dream last night, and it has given me a lot of inspiration for my next story/series. It’s obscure, it’s slightly insane, and very dirty. I’m not going to spoil too much because it’s still just a vague conceptual idea in my messed-up head. But let's just say it involves one FMC, the 9 circles of hell, and 9 Demon! Seventeen members, each taking their turn "challenging" FMC in their representative sin (iykyk).

I’m definitely planning on writing and finishing The House of Carat first, so don’t come for me, okay? But if anyone wants to listen to me ramble and work this out for after THoC, give me a holler. 💟

I agree, "There you are" is such a good line. I know I wrote it, but phew, when I came up with it, I patted myself on the back. 😅

You aren't the first to tell me FMC's parts were hard to read. I know it's pretty intense, and I myself thought of killing off her father more than once. But his control and torture are all necessary to portray her growth and the eventual love story between her and Mingyu.

The biggest challenge was writing Mingyu in that way, though. It would’ve been easy to make him "the villain" in her father’s eyes and let him steal her away, elope, or low-key (consentually) kidnap her. But given the period, all of that would have ruined her in society, and Mingyu is still a gentleman. He knows the implications would be deadly on the Ashbourne title as well, especially since so many of his brothers are still to be wed. That emotional growth really coincides with FMCs' growing independence.

Wonwoo's part is being written as we speak. I must admit I haven't had much time the last couple of weeks, but I'm locking in and finishing this before the end of the month. But thank you again for reading angelcakes, love you! 💟

I'm going to try and reply to everything you’ve mentioned here in chronological order, so buckle up, baby, it's going to be a long one.

You are the second person (I think?) to mention the lack of Mingyu interaction at the start of the story. That was actually done deliberately for a few reasons:

Now, about Mingyu's introduction: this was also very deliberate, yes. I really wanted to highlight the 'Rake vs Saint' dynamic, jumping from FMC's POV to his. Although, as we later learn, Mingyu's personality and the way he acts are all just a shield to hide how he truly feels. In this story, he is the youngest son. In Regency era, that meant that he had no purpose. Seungcheol would always be Viscount as the oldest. If something ever happened to him and he had no heirs, the title would go to Jeonghan. So Mingyu literally has 5 brothers before him who would sooner take the title than he would (not calculating any offspring). That, on top of being adopted, has made him feel as if he were redundant. So when the ton labelled him as "trouble", he went along with it.

You know, I really enjoyed writing those little acts of rebellion FMC partakes in; the kiss, the sugar, the ribbons, etc. As I mentioned above, she is slowly breaking free from her father’s reign (and Mingyu is mostly to thank for that). The things she does might seem unimportant, small or inconsequential, but for her they feel like great battle victories.

MR. CASHEW?! 🤣 Honestly, top-tier Ghostie. That's officially his name from now on. I'm never going to refer to him as anything else.

I promise you, each story in this series will have a closed HEA. I fear I have traumatised you with TSOTSDT, but I'm not that cruel. But AHEM. I did not know you wrote down my lines in your diary?! That's so freaking awesome. Now I'm really curious which ones you pick out to keep. (I have a few of my own, and I wonder if they're the same)

About daddy! Cheol: I'M SO GLAD YOU PICKED UP ON THAT! I tried to be as subtle as I could about it, but it’s the natural progression of their relationship. First to be married, first son, first heir. I'm not going to spoil too much, but I'll definitely try to include a scene or two in the future. That's kind of the point of this series: to include each brother in the storyline of another (even if they already got their HEA). So expect Mingyu to return at one point, too.

I must admit: I am kind of nervous about writing for Jeonghan. That will indeed be the first time I've ever written him, and I'm still thinking about how I want to portray him. What we’ve seen in the stories so far is that he is playful, a little sarcastic, but also incredibly perceptive and cunning. But for the plotline I have in mind, we might see a different side altogether. For now, it'll remain a mystery to both you and me.

I read your feedback on my story before I read this message, and honestly, you made me speechless.

Everyone who's been on my blog for a while knows I'm incredibly awkward and bad with words when I receive compliments. Which is incredibly ironic, seeing that I have SO much to say when I write my stuff.

It has been brought to my attention a few times now that I make people cry with my stories. I promise that was never my point. But I must admit that I've always leaned more into the whole 'epic, gutwrenching, once-in-a-lifetime' love story. Something raw, realistic, imperfect, but oh so addicting. It's what people relate to, I think, and what makes my stories resonate that much more.

So yeah, all this to say, thank you. I honestly don't know if I would continue writing and posting as much if it wasn't for all of your kind words and support, so know that this means a whole lot to me.

I totally get that, my love. Revealing anything personal to the world is incredibly scary. Especially writing. It’s something that comes from so deep within us and often includes emotions/events/thoughts we can relate to. I remember the first time I posted one of my works, and I was SO scared I almost immediately took it down. But there was something in me that just had to share it with the world, so I pushed through.

Anyway, what I want to say: if you ever get the urge, don’t be afraid. If you never get the urge? It's all good either way. Just know that I will always support you! 💟

Basically, it is a metaphor representing a person as both the cause of their downfall and the final, inescapable end.
