thinking again of a mute yin yu. maybe he's always been this quiet, or maybe he stopped speaking after his banishment as a response to the trauma + as a punishment for himself. he was always quiet as a martial god, but now when the gods see him he is dead silent.

he holds silent communication with hua cheng, and the gods cannot tell if it is through an array or if they simply know eachother well enough to communicate via a look, or if it is something else entirely. he does the same with he xuan, but he xuan doesn't mind, understanding of the circumstances shaping yin yu and content in the silence.

maybe it affects his identity so badly, that once he dies and returns as a ghost flourishing in the world, he still does not speak. as he grows stronger, perhaps he has an appearance where he has no mouth, or no tongue.

perhaps this could also affect arrays, so he may not use communication arrays at all. perhaps arrays are the only way (outside of writing) he can communicate.

When I'm sad I like to imagine Hua Cheng's butterflies gently kissing Yin Yu's nose, forehead, cheeks, literally anywhere on his head. Poor guy is so embarrassed but can't swat them away.

Imagine a heavenly official happens to witness this while Yin Yu is on some mission and they run over to save him or warn him but they see the butterflies being all gentle and Yin Yu's ears are beet red

shang qinghua definitely go depression being alone in a different world for so long. his disciples and fellow peak lords notice how sometimes he’ll zone out and disassociate while they’re talking. they notice how he mutters words or phrases or rants in a different language before pausing noticing no one understands and switching back.

maybe secretly they try to learn the phrases and decode them. the first time a disciple says fuck or references something shang qinghua laughs and ask them a question they don’t understand (are you a transmigrator?). he becomes said but is pleased by their effort to try to learn.

he recovers slightly from his depression and smiles more seeing his disciples try to learn english. at some point they understand his mutterings about the plot and mobei. somehow this leads to them believing he is a god and is trying to court mobei. they’ll have to try to help.

was reminded of that youtube channel that records footage of that bridge that scalps trucks today. one of the fascinating developments that's happened since i last heard about it is that, in one of their many attempts to stop the trucks from being can-opened, they installed a traffic light that detects when a vehicle that's over the allowed height is coming and turns red so the driver can stop and hopefully notice the signage all around that's screaming "YOUR VEHICLE IS OVERHEIGHT TURN AROUND" and avoid an accident. However as a result sometimes drivers see the light turning yellow and IMMEDIATELY start flooring it to avoid having to stop, ensuring that the roof of their truck just gets fucking annihilated instantly. Really beautiful stuff you should check it out

It DOES have a sign. It turns on when it detects something too tall for the bridge. It even flashes. And the traffic lights will go red to get people to stop when it detects an over height vehicle so they read the signs. (note this lovely example where the lights are red, because the truck thought it was better than the lights)

every time I see this post I've forgotten how clearly signposted the canopener bridge is, and every time it hits me like a truck (hitting the canopener bridge and getting the top of its trailer ripped asunder)

Important update, out of curiosity I went to look at The Can Opener on google maps and discovered that they have since opened a THEMED FOOD TRUCK PARK RIGHT NEXT TO THE BRIDGE
