Vice Captain's Princess || Lohen
Synopsis: You were known by many names.
The Captain of the Fifth Company of the Knights of Favonius. The cold, disciplined woman with impossibly high standards. Or as the locals said, Vice-Captain Lohen's girl.
When Lohen heard it, though, he'd always correct them.
"Vice-Captain Lohen's Princess."
A title you earned without even trying.
You were a girl with a rather cold, disciplined and no-tolerance-for-nonsense personality. And somehow, when you were kids, you became friends with this menace.
What's even stranger is that, even now, he still finds his ways to be with you. And it seems like, you can't find a way to drive him away.
TW: Fluff, Lohen being Lohen, princess treatment, idk, ideas of the sleepless demon that resides within me
Chapter 1: Princess Sometimes Rewards Her Knight
The first thing Aria saw after opening her eyes was a familiar face hovering above her.
A face wearing the most irritatingly pleased smile she had ever seen.
"Good morning, Princess."
Aria blinked several times, her vision still hazy from sleep.
Once she recognized him, she mumbled a barely audible,
Sitting up, Aria instinctively brought a hand to her face, rubbing at her sleepy eyes.
"Now, now. You'll hurt those pretty eyes, Princess."
Lohen gently caught Aria's wrist before she could continue.
In response, Aria glared at him.
Unfortunately, all that accomplished was making him chuckle, as though he'd just witnessed something adorable.
Realizing Aria wasn't about to stop glaring at him, his gaze drifted to her restrained wrist before he quickly let it go.
He immediately raised both hands in surrender.
"I apologize for offending you, Princess. Please forgive this foolish man."
Aria stared at him with half-lidded eyes, utterly unimpressed.
Resting her chin on her palm, she asked flatly,
"...Because you let me sleep beside you?"
The moment Aria's expression darkened, he coughed awkwardly.
"Okay, okay. Now don't eat me."
Then, as if he hadn't learned his lesson, he smiled again.
"Although... I wouldn't mind being devoured by Your Highness-"
His sentence ended with Aria's pillow smacking him square in the face.
Unfortunately, Aria's weapon of choice happened to be ridiculously soft, doing absolutely no damage whatsoever.
Aria had the distinct feeling he enjoyed it.
"Being violent first thing in the morning? Mhm, as expected of my Princess!" he laughed.
Making absolutely no effort to dodge Aria's attacks only encouraged her further.
What followed could barely be called a fight.
It was more of a one-sided assault involving several pillows, an annoyingly amused vice-captain, and a very unfortunate pillow that ultimately sacrificed itself in battle.
By the time the chaos settled, feathers floated lazily through the room like freshly fallen snow.
Aria huffed, shoulders rising and falling.
She had been awake for barely five minutes...
...and she was already exhausted.
And the cause of it... the man that sleeps beside her.
"Already done, Princess? i was expecting three more pillows."
Lohen looked at Aria with an infuriatingly satisfied grin.
There was something far more important.
Without a word, Aria lifted both arms toward him.
Then looked at Aria's outstretched arms.
Aria tilted her head, her patience already wearing dangerously thin.
"...Are you going to pick me up," Aria asked calmly, "Or should I fire you?"
He snorted before quickly biting it back.
He placed a hand over his chest dramatically.
"I'd hate to be dismissed by my own Princess."
Aria knew he was exaggerating.
But who was she to say anything about that?
He hadn't given her what she wanted yet.
Any argument could wait until afterward.
With a quiet chuckle, Lohen climbed off the shared bed before leaning down toward Aria.
But his next actions...really surprised her.
"Huh?" Aria gasped as he threw her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
He was doing it on purpose!
Aria gave him the darkest glare ever.
But little did she know, what seemed like the darkest glare to her and others, to Lohen, it only seemed like a cat glaring at someone who stole its food.
Of course, it didn't mean he was disrespecting her or any of the sort.
He just found it utterly cute instead of intimidating.
Just like now, how Aria was throwing her hands and feet at him in an attempt to get down.
"Oh? So am I supposed to just ignore you, Princess?"
He said shaking his head, sounding serious.
Aria narrowed her eyes at him, while he just stared back at her with that grin of his.
But somehow, it seemed softer.
"Is my Princess, perhaps, discontent with my service?"
"Very much so," Aria crossed her arms.
"Then, would she like this?" with that, he properly held Aria in his arms.
"...Not yet. You still haven't finished your duty."
Any normal person would think Aria would let go of him after he carried her to the washroom.
But no, they two weren't normal people.
After reaching there, Aria stood in front of the mirror, arms crossed.
She looked at Lohen, and he looked at her.
"...But if I somehow hurt you, Your Highness would punch me."
"Was I being that obvious?"
Aria nodded, very serious, "Very much."
After Aria freshened up and got changed, she slumped down in front of the mirror of her and Lohen's room.
"But wouldn't Your Highness hit me if I pull out a strand by mistake?"
"Don't act like you don't enjoy it."
"Oh? Does this mean my Princess pays attention to me? I'm so touched~"
"Quit the melodrama," she deadpanned.
Lohen couldn't help but laugh.
Now, would any sane person ever imagine that THE vice-captain of the fifth company gives princess treatment to a girl?
Well, not any girl though.
But even so, a freak out would be the most normal reaction.
Even though most of the people are now aware that Lohen treats Aria extra specially, while she gives him the cold shoulder (according to them), this is still something out of their imagination.
Though Aria would say, their imagination is to blame.
They have a small imagination.
It couldn't be that surprising, surely.
"Seems like I wouldn't be getting hit today," Lohen said, finishing brushing Aria's hair.
Aria looked at the mirror, judging it.
"So Princess, what do you think?" Lohen leaned in, looking proud.
Aria turned her head at him, then glanced at the mirror before looking back at him.
The first time Aria asked him to brush her hair, it was a complete mess.
"The target is my Princess's soft hair. The weapon a hair-brush. The mission, brushing her hair without hurting her," he said.
And pulled out a strand of hair.
Which resulted in him getting hit, just like he said earlier.
At least Aria's hair was still where it was supposed to be.
And she was never one to style her hair anyway.
So it was quite acceptable.
Lohen's shoulders dropped, his grin replaced by a sorrowful look.
He looked down, "Is that all I get?" then looked up at her.
Aria stared at his hopeful and hurt expression.
"Ehhh, come on. At least give me a hug~"
And all of a sudden, he had his arms wrapped around Aria from his side like it's the most normal thing to do.
Aria didn't shake his arms off, nor did she tell him to stop his whining.
Maybe she would even reward him.
And so, she lifted her hand and patted his head.
Lohen froze, before leaning in more, "Princess~!"
"Nothing," he said, then buried his face in her hair. "Ahahaha!"
Despite everything, Aria's lips twitched.
It was a sound she loved very much.
Though this one, when he's with her, was her favorite, she also liked the one at battlefield.
Although others would prefer to name it "Scary", she would rather go with "Lovely".
"Eh, Lohen!" Aria called out as she felt ticklish.
This man was still laughing while being buried in her neck.
And naturally, it tickled her.
But even after her protest, Lohen absolutely refused to let her go.
How could he when he was in pure bliss?
How head over heels he was in love with this impossibly stubborn woman.
