Please Help

So in your opinion, how long should a average chapter be for a book? or story? I need help because, yes, I am finally writing my OC book. I'm just scared I might be making the chapter too short, and I will publish the chapters both here and on wattpad. I would appreciate it if you could just add a comment telling me cause I'm a new writer and my writing isn't very good.

lohen x sick!reader. except i dont tell you what type of sick you got. ansgt. childhood bestfriends. Inspiration Credit: This fic was heavily inspired by the incredible work of @chai-writes-stuff! some of the emotional motifs belong to them. Please go check out their amazing writing!

There was a specific routine to the way Lohen lived his life before he became the Vice Captain of the Ranged Squad. His parents taught him that a good life must be like a finely crafted bow—straight, consistent, and predictable. Every single action had to align perfectly.

But you were never a part of that predictable routine. You were the soft, erratic heartbeat of his childhood. You were the person who sat on the stone walls of Mondstadt with him, laughing at his terrible jokes, swinging your legs over the edge while the wind brushed past your ears. He was wild, chaotic, and hiding a deep, jagged bloodlust beneath a carefully crafted mask of cocky charm. You were the only one who could look past the manic gleam in his dull red eyes and see the boy who had been terrified of being controlled by monsters long ago.

And then, you got sick.

It wasn't a sudden, heroic wound from a Hilichurl blade. It was a slow, crushing decay. The doctors at the cathedral whispered words like terminal and incurable.

When Lohen first heard the news, his smile didn't falter. He simply chuckled, tapped his chin, and made a flippant comment about how the Favonius medics were getting lazier by the day.

But then, he disappeared.

One week turned into a month. A month turned into three. For nearly half a year, the person who used to look for you every single morning suddenly became a ghost. If you walked down the halls of the Knights of Favonius headquarters, he would turn a corner the moment he spotted your pale face. If you sat by the fountain in the plaza, he would suddenly find an urgent monster-hunting commission outside the city gates.

Lohen hated things he couldn't fight. He refused to spar with training dummies because objects that couldn't strike back were boring. But a terminal illness? It was an enemy he couldn't pierce with his polearm. He couldn't trap it, he couldn't poison it like he did with Varka’s drinks for fun, and he couldn't outrun it. The thought of watching your life slowly bleed away—watching the only person who truly anchored him dissolve into nothing—terrified him so deeply that his mind broke it down into pure, unfiltered avoidance.

If he didn't see you die, then maybe you weren't actually dying.

It was a stupid, childish lie. But it was the only way he could keep his sanity while he hacked away at monsters in the Whispering Woods, his Cryo vision flaring with an angry, freezing desperation.

By the time the autumn leaves began to drop, your strength had completely faded. You couldn't leave your bed at the cathedral anymore. The room smelled of antiseptic and bitter herbs. Your breathing was shallow, a faint, rhythmic scratching sound against the quiet of the room.

The door didn't creak when it opened. Lohen was too good at stealth for that.

You didn't turn your head. You already knew the heavy, cold presence that entered the room. The scent of frost and wind followed him.

"Well, look at you," Lohen’s voice broke the silence. It was loud. Too loud. He stepped into the light, his hands resting casually behind his head, that familiar, cocky smirk plastered across his face. The greenish rings in his eyes were blown wide, and his pale skin looked almost as ghostly as yours. "You really love dragging things out, don't cha, bun? I thought you’d be up and running by now. The monsters outside are getting boring without you watching me tear them apart."

You let out a soft, wet chuckle. "You're a terrible liar, oh mighty vice captain."

The smirk on his face twitched. He pulled up a wooden chair, turning it backward so he could lean his arms over the backrest, staring down at you. "Me? Lie? Never. I'm the most honest knight in Mondstadt. Just ask Varka."

"You've been avoiding me for five months," you whispered. Your voice was so thin it barely carried across the bedsheets. "Did you think I wouldn't notice?"

Lohen looked away, his jaw tightening. He reached into his coat, pulling out a piece of bubblegum, popping it into his mouth just to give his hands something to do. "I've been busy. Ranged Squad duties. Mika keeps messing up the maps, and someone has to keep the perimeter clear."

"Lohen."

He stopped chewing.

"Look at me."

Slowly, his dull red eyes dragged back to your face. For the first time in your life, you saw the absolute, terrifying cracks in his armor. Sitting in front of you was just a boy who was losing his entire world, frozen in place by a monster he couldn't kill.

"You're going to leave," Lohen said. His voice wasn't loud anymore. It dropped into a flat, raw tone. "Everyone keeps saying it. Barbara, Jean, the Grandmaster... they all look at me with those pitying eyes. I hate it. I hate that you're just sitting here letting it happen."

"I don't have a choice," you said softly, reaching out a trembling, weak hand.

Lohen stared at your fingers. For a second, he looked like he wanted to grab your hand and squeeze it, to anchor you to the physical world. But he didn't move. He feared that if he touched you, he would break whatever fragile magic was keeping you breathing.

"I wanted to see you one last time," you murmured, your vision starting to blur as the heavy weight of sleep pulled at your eyelids. "I'm not mad that you ran away. I know how you are. You only like battles you can win."

"This isn't a battle," Lohen retorted, his fists clenching so hard his knuckles turned white. A faint, freezing mist began to roll off his shoulders, the temperature in the room dropping instantly. "It's a joke. It's unfair."

"There is a letter," you managed to voice out playfully. Your eyes slowly closed, a peaceful, tired smile resting on your lips. "Under my pillow. Promise me  you'll read it after I'm gone. Don't throw it away."

Lohen didn't answer. He couldn't. His throat felt like it was clogged with ice. He sat there in the dim room, listening as your breaths grew longer, further apart, until finally, the rhythmic scratching sound stopped completely.

The silence that followed was the loudest thing he had ever heard.

The funeral was small. Lohen didn't attend the service. He stood far away, hidden in the shadows of the whispering stone arches of the cathedral, watching the small crowd gather around the grave. His face was entirely blank. The mask was back on, completely unreadable, cold as the northern winds of Mondstadt.

When everyone left, he walked back to your empty room. The sheets had already been stripped from the bed. The scent of herbs was fading, replaced by the hollow smell of an abandoned space.

But on the bare mattress, right where your pillow used to be, sat a small, folded piece of paper.

Lohen walked over, his heavy boots clicking against the stone floor. He picked it up with calloused, trembling fingers. He slid his thumb under the fold and opened it. Your handwriting was shaky, written over the course of those lonely months when he refused to visit. __________

To Lohen,

If you are reading this, it means I finally lost my match. Don't be too angry at the archons, and please don't take it out on the monsters in the woods. They didn't do this, hahah.

I'm writing this because I have a secret. A very big one. And since I am a bit of a coward, I could only tell you when I was sure you couldn't run away from the conversation.

Do you remember when we were ten? The day you got rescued from those bad people, and everyone in the city looked at you like you were broken? You sat by the lake, throwing rocks, looking so angry at the world. You told me you wanted to become so strong that nobody could ever dictate your life again.

Everyone else was scared of you because you started carrying knives and talking about blood. But I wasn't. Because when you looked at me, your eyes were always gentle.

I have loved you for a very long time.

Not just as the kid I grew up with, and not just as a friend. I loved the way you laughed when you were genuinely happy, not just when you were being cocky. I loved the way you always made sure to walk on the outside of the path to protect me, even when you claimed you were just looking for a fight. I loved every single version of you.

I knew you didn't see me that way. I knew you were too busy chasing strength, chasing freedom, chasing Varka across the battlefields. So, I didn't want to ruin the one steady routine we had left.

My only regret is that I lied to you for so many years.

Thank you for being my friend. Thank you for the memories. Don't stay frozen in this winter, Lohen. Keep moving forward. Keep fighting.

With all my love,

Your biggest fan. __________

Lohen stood frozen in the center of the empty room. The paper crumpled slightly in his grip.

His mind raced backward, tearing through a decade of memories. Every shared glance, every time you reached out to touch his arm, every time you smiled through your tears when he came back covered in blood—it all flashed before his eyes with agonizing clarity.

You had loved him.

And he had spent the last five months of your life running away because he was a coward who couldn't face the reality of losing you. He had deprived you of the only thing you wanted—his presence, his warmth, his truth—all to protect his own selfish heart.

A choked, desperate sound tore from Lohen’s throat. He dropped to his knees against the cold stone floor, pulling the letter closely against his chest. Tears, hot and furious, finally spilled over his pale cheeks, burning against the skin beneath his right eye.

"Bun, you idiot," he sobbed into the empty room, his body shaking violently as his Cryo vision pulsed faintly. "You absolute idiot... how am I supposed to move forward after this?"

The wind howled outside the cathedral window, rattling the glass, but there was no voice left to answer him.

summary: dressing up your bf lohen in ouji fashion !
established relationship, fluff, no warnings, soft lohen, ~700 words
a/n: waow guys I really love Lohen :3 !! hope you enjoy this little drabble

“C’mon, this is embarrassing…” Lohen whines, shyly turning around for you to admire him. He’s wearing a white frilly top with black shorts, white dress socks, and black loafers. The perfect new outfit you’d bought for him (among many) in a ouji-fashion collection on your recent trip to Fontaine. You’d seen the collection being advertised in a window while you were walking past, and instantly pictured how adorable the Vice Captain would look, dressed in cute frilly clothes. Of course, you couldn’t resist having him try them all on once you got back.

“Aww, but look at you! So refined, so cute!” You coo, circling around him to add on a few accessories. A capelet on his shoulder, a frilly neck collar, and a lopsided mini top hat. He huffs, crossing his arms and trying not to glance your way. He couldn’t give you the satisfaction of seeing how much he actually liked this outfit.

You step back to admire him, much to his dismay. “Hmm…”

“What…what is it? Does it not look good-?” The worry in his voice creeps in as his eyebrows furrow.

“No, no! I just think I have something better for you,” you grin, watching as he sighs.

“Another outfit…?” He doesn’t sound annoyed in the slightest, which is how you can tell he’s enjoying this deep down. He leans over his shoulder as you rifle through the new clothes, his hand resting on your shoulder.

This time, you retrieve a dark long-sleeved tailcoat with two rows of buttons down the front, plus matching black pants and shoes.

“Try this on for me, please, my dear?” You practically beg, holding out the clothes to your boyfriend. He huffs but quickly relents, heading into the other room to change.

The moment he steps out, you can’t resist the urge to squish his cheeks in your hands. His eyes widen, but he relaxes into your touch quickly enough. He looks gorgeous in that new outfit, and it fits him in all the right ways.

“You look so cute! Aww, I love it,” you hum, admiring the adorable sight in front of you. “Though, it’s missing something.”

Lohen pauses, slightly intrigued now. “Oh? And what would that be?”

You step over to the boxes you’d bought and fish out the perfect accessory to sit atop his head - a pair of black bunny ears, fluffy and soft. Lohen’s cheeks instantly warm at the sight of them.

“W-wh…you want me to wear that-?” He splutters, eyes darting anywhere but your face. He’s adorable like this, in these rare moments when you’re the one to catch him off guard.

Yet one pleasing glance from you does it for him. “Alright…” he relents with a sigh. He examines the fluffy ears in his hands before slipping them on his head. “…this good?”

Your weak attempt to hold back a squeal fails as you wrap your arms tightly around him, reaching up to pet his head and newly acquired fluffy ears. Lohen makes a startled squeak noise before instantly returning the hug and leaning into your touch. As much as he acts like he doesn’t enjoy this, the moment you show him any affection, he’s gone for you so quick. Plus, though he may sigh and whine, he truly does love being admired by you (no matter how embarrassing it may be).

“…thank you for going through with this. It makes me so happy to get to dress you up like this,” you mumble against his shoulder, holding him just a bit closer.

He lets out a happy sigh, nodding. “Of course. Makes me happy to see you happy. Plus, I mean - you spent all this money on new outfits for me, so they might as well find a use…”

Your eyes light up and you pull back slightly to meet his gaze. “You mean you’ll wear them in public?”

He nods slowly, considering. “Yeah, sure thing. But not the bunny ears.”

“Right, those are just for my eyes,” you grin, patting his head again and feeling the fluff of the dark-colored ears.

“…I’ll wear them around the house, though. Just not near others.” Lohen agrees with a grin.

A fandom so dead, no one even talks how we got a new movie after so long

I wouldn't say it's dead... there are definitely a lot of assassination classroom fans out there still. I would say we still have fans but they're a lot quieter these days... I can get where you say it's dead though, not a lot of fanfic writers these days for it and not a lot of people know it now or heard of it. Hopefully they fandom could come back to life, because this show is extremely underrated and was genuinely the one of the best animes i have ever watched.

Hiii :DD Im asking if you could write an Isogai x Reader crush hc bcus i dont find many writing for my ikemannn. :(((

Oooh, my first Isogai x reader request 😳 I hope you don't mind, but I wrote a one-shot instead, because like you said, there aren't that many fics around him 😭

Coffee Prince | Yuma Isogai x Reader

There was this cute boy you really liked at this cafe.

You first discovered the place about a month ago, when you and a friend stumbled in after tennis practice. Both of you were exhausted, still a little sweaty in your uniforms, and more focused on finding somewhere—anywhere—quiet to study and relax.

Normally, you would have insisted on one of the upscale cafés closer to your neighbourhood. But that day, you were too hungry and too drained to be picky.

So, you and your friend settled for the first decent-looking cafe in the area. You never heard of this place, and normally you wouldn't have gone back here a second time.

The floors didn't look polished, the booths were a bit worn out, the menu you were given had a stain on it, and the colour combination was not to your taste.

But it had air conditioning, the drinks looked refreshing, and it was quiet enough, so you stayed.

And you were glad you did, because that's where you met Yuma Isogai.

He was a cute waiter whom you immediately developed a crush on during your first interaction with him. When he first approached your table, you thought you were looking at a prince.

He had somewhat spiked dark brown hair with two small, cute hair antennae at the top and the most beautiful brown eyes you've ever seen. And his uniform was nothing special. White shirt, black vest and a brown apron. It was the same as anyone who worked here, but Isogai made it look like he was Prince Charming in disguise as a waiter.

Your friend thought you were weird for developing a crush on someone from the working class. You both came from upscale families and were surrounded by boys of the same status.

And, in a way, you couldn't blame them for thinking that you had lost your mind. Your taste had always been what people called high-standard. You were picky about everything—clothes, food, grades, even the people you entertained as potential crushes.

Yet here you were, falling for a boy who wiped tables, smelled like coffee and carried trays.

He is definitely different from the other boys you were used to. They were arrogant, had forced smiles on their faces, cheap words they would use thinking that was enough to win you over.

Isogai, however, was kind to a fault, charming without even trying. Always smiling gently, even when dealing with a rude customer and managing to smoothly deal with them. You've seen him put an angry toddler to sleep for a tired mom. He would remember a customer's face and name and be genuinely interested in their daily life.

He was absolutely perfect.

So for the past month, three times a week, you've been coming to this cafe, just to see this boy.

"It's nice to see you again." Isogai greets you with a warm and friendly smile as you take your seat.

It wasn't a typical customer service greeting. Isogai smiled good-naturedly, which felt like it came from the heart.

You smiled brightly, and your heart fluttered that he was becoming more and more familiar with your face.

Then again, it's probably easy to remember someone who is constantly dressed like they were going to see a fashion show in Paris.

"You sure like our coffee here." Isogai kindly comments.

"I like the service here more." You replied in a knowing tone.

It's the truth. The coffee was mediocre at best for your refined taste buds, and the sweets were tasty enough, but nothing compared to the other pastries you ate.

You only keep ordering them because you need a reason to stay and talk to him.

"So, the usual?" He asked, his pen hovering over his notepad.

"Yes, please."

Isogai wrote your order and went on his way to take care of another customer.

You took your textbook out and notebook just for show. You weren't actually going to study. You just needed another reason to stay as long as you could.

You kept your gaze on your notes, trying not to make it obvious that you noticed him coming your way with your order.

He carefully sets your mug and chocolate cake down gracefully, making his job look like it was a work of art.

"Enjoy," Isogai said as he straightened up.

Your heart fluttered. "I will."

Isogai leaves once again to do his job. You understand that, but it still upsets you that you aren't given much time to talk to him.

Every now and then, when the place isn't busy, he does spare you a few minutes. He asks you about school and seems interested whenever you speak about your school life and tennis practice.

But that isn't enough. You want to spend more time with.

Now, there was an obvious solution to this. Just ask him to hang out after work.

You had. Three times you asked him to hang out with you, but he kept giving excuses.

By the third time, Isogai noticed how dejected you looked and was filled with guilt and assumed he made you believe that he was making up empty excuses because he didn't like you or anything.

Which isn't true. He found you to be very sweet and felt bad that he couldn't spend time with you after work.

That's when he told you a bit about his living situation. Isogai's mother was sick, and he had younger siblings he needed to take care of. He never mentioned his father, so you assumed he wasn't in the picture.

He was only fifteen and was juggling with so much on his own. His focus was on school, work to make money and his struggling family.

'Isogai, you poor thing.' You dramatically pressed a handkerchief below your eye like you were in some soap opera. 'Don't worry, once we're married, I'll make sure you never have to work again.'

Your father probably would outright refuse Isogai as your partner, but you'll just give him the silent treatment if he does not give you his blessing.

It works every time.

It wasn't just you who saw Isogai's charm, however. You can see that he's quite popular among the patrons. Older women doted on him, and girls your own age were chasing his attention just like you.

You were fuming every time you saw that and were tempted to ask your father to buy this place and make it so that no teenage girls were allowed (except for you) in this cafe.

It was a petty and childish thought, but it did quell your jealousy whenever you saw another girl leaning too close to your crush.

"Are you working late again?" You asked as Isogai carefully refilled your mug for a second time.

"Thankfully, no." He said with loose shoulders. "I got paid today, so I need time to head to the grocery store."

You perked up. Wait. This is your chance!

"H-How about I join you?" You blurt out. "I was planning on cooking something for my parents tonight."

That was a lie. You've never cooked anything in your entire life. Heck, you've never been to a grocery store.

But still, the idea had possibilities. Grocery shopping together sounded... domestic. Ordinary. Like something couples did in dramas before going home and making dinner together.

Luckily for you, it doesn't cross Isogai's mind that question of "don't you have maids to cook for your parents?"

He simply accepted your words at face value.

"Sure." He beams so brightly that you think you would go blind. "I get off in an hour. Is that okay?"

You eagerly nodded.

When Isogai left your table, you pressed your fingers against your lips to suppress a squeal.

***

"Um, (l/n)... This is..."

After his shift ended, Isogai changed out of his apron and stepped outside, expecting to see you waiting on the sidewalk. He expected you to be standing there with your school bag, maybe checking your phone or waving when you spotted him.

What he wasn't expecting was the car and a personal driver.

"What's wrong?" You asked confusingly. Your arm was already linked around his, getting ready to pull him into the car with you like it was a natural thing to do.

Isogai had turned into stone.

Isogai has never been so close to such an expensive car. He never thought he would. It was an entirely different world from what he was used to. And now here he is, a couple of feet away from something he could never afford, even if he worked his entire life.

"The grocery store isn't that far from here." Isogai nervously said to you. "I-I really don't mind taking the bus."

You cringed and crinkled your nose. There is no way you're getting on a bus. Ew. Other people sat there.

"Nonsense." You dismissed him. "You don't expect a lady to carry any bags without any help, right?" You tried to coax him.

"B-but I-I." He spluttered.

You weren't listening and proceeded to pull him in the car with you. "Come on, now."

Isogai sat stiffly beside you, his school bag clutched tightly to his chest, worried that his old, worn-out bag would dirty the leather seats. He sat on the edge of the plush leather seat, as if afraid to sink into it too much, as if he might damage it by accident.

He looked so out of place. He was so nervous and yet so earnest. It made your heart melt a little.

It was kind of adorable.

The normally composed, confident boy who navigated the crowded cafe with ease and carried stacks of plates and cups now seemed worried that even breathing too hard might ruin something he couldn't afford to replace.

He doesn't have to worry about that, though. Even if he accidentally breaks something, you'll happily take the blame. The worst thing your father could do to you would be to scold you

You wish the car ride were a lot longer. You can stay here forever next to this boy.

Unfortunately, the grocery store wasn't far.

Isogai seemed relieved to get out of the car, though he was reluctant to leave a school bag in the car, but you assured him it was okay.

However, once you stepped into the building, the roles reversed, and now you felt out of place. You have never once been into a grocery store before. You and your family had people go out and buy the things you've need for your fridge.

"Do you need a basket?" Isogai asked, breaking you out of your bewildered thoughts.

"Huh?" You looked at him.

Being the gentleman that he was, Isogai was already handing you a shopping basket for you to grab.

You flinched, thinking he was handing you some kind of used tissue.

When Isogai furrowed his brows in confusion, you blushed in embarrassment.

"O-oh, um, yes, thank you." You reluctantly took the basket, hiding your cringe when your hands curled around the black handle.

Isogai, in the meantime, took his own basket and walked further into the store. You took a few extra seconds to use a handkerchief to wipe the basket before following Isogai.

"What are you getting?" Isogai asked.

You stiffened.

Ah, that's right. What are you going to get? You haven't put that much thought into it.

"Steak." You blurt out.

Isogai paid no mind to your strained voice and only nodded. "That sounds good. Let's check the meat section first, then."

The meat section all the way at the back of the store. Cold air spilled from the open refrigerated cases, prickling faintly against your skin. Packages of meat were neatly lined up in rows. Beef, pork, chicken, all wrapped in plastic with neat little labels and prices.

Isogai immediately knew exactly where to look and made a beeline to where the chickens were being sold.

"Whoa," Isogai's eyes lit up. "Maehara was right. The whole chickens are on sale. Thank goodness."

You have never seen anyone so excited for some cheap poultry. Like... You don't get it, but he had such a cute expression, so you won't judge.

Ah, but never mind about that, you need to pick something up, otherwise he'll catch onto your lie.

There were lots of options to choose from, and even if you don't plan to do anything with the steak, you weren't going to be like Isogai and buy anything cheap.

So you went for the most expensive one and dropped it into your basket.

You paused for a moment. Wait... Is one package enough? It's pretty small.

Wanting to keep the lie as convincing as possible, you put two more packages into your basket.

The small weight of it was already bugging you, but you ignored it.

"Do you need anything else?"Isogai approached you. "What are you making?"

Oh crap.

"N-no," you shook your head and forced a smile. "I don't need anything else. I just needed meat."

Thankfully, he doesn't find you suspicious and question you anymore.

'He's so trusting.' You thought dreamily.

As you moved down the aisles beside him, you watched how seriously he took each choice. He would pause in front of an item he seemed to want, pick it up, and glance at the price, his lips pursing thoughtfully as he did the math in his head. Sometimes he put the item back with a small, resigned sigh before moving on. Other times, after a moment of thought, he'd nod and place it gently in his basket.

You've never seen anyone take their time shopping for food.

"Ah," Isogai flinched when he realized how much time he was taking. "I'm sorry. Am I being too slow?"

You smiled reassuringly. "Oh, no, that's okay!"

Honestly, he can take all the time in the world. You really didn't mind because it meant you could spend more time with him.

But your time with him had to come to an end, and eventually you both were at the self-checkout. Isogai didn't buy that many things in the end.

Just that whole chicken that was on sale, a small carton of eggs, sliced bread that was also on sale and a few vegetables.

When it was your turn for the self-checkout, you stood there, confused. You never used one before, so Isogai immediately stepped in to help you when he saw your struggle.

You felt a twinge of embarrassment, but of course, Isogai never made fun of you, and you didn't feel his judgment.

Isogai planned to part ways with you after grabbing his bag, but when you told him that you didn't mind giving him a ride home, he again looked flustered at the kind gesture and at being allowed to go back to that car.

He declined the invite since you've already done too much by giving him a ride here to begin with, but again, you insisted.

And once again, Isogai sat stiffly next to you.

'Silly boy.' You thought amusingly. 'This is how your life will be in the future, so you might as well get used to it.'

The car rolled into a quieter part of town, where the sidewalks were narrower and the buildings older. Eventually, it pulled up in front of a small and modest home that you wouldn't want me caught dead in, but here you are, happily walking next to Isogai until you both make it to the front of his home.

"Thanks for the ride." Isogai smiled gratefully.

Even if he was a little flustered getting inside a luxurious car, he still appreciated the gesture and was happy to get back home a lot sooner than expected. Now he had more time to cook. Everyone at home must be hungry by now.

"You're welcome." You returned the smile. "I had sorta fun."

Even if a grocery store were the last place you would go to, you would happily go there again with him.

Isogai bids you good night, and you saw his hand on the door handles; you flinched, realizing this was goodbye for now.

"W-wait." You blurt out, one foot forward.

Isogai paused just as he was about to open the door to his house.

You only told him to stop on a whim. "Um..." You stumbled a bit, trying to find a good excuse. Luckily, Isogai was a patient person and had no intentions of hurrying you up.

Your eyes flickered to the bag you were holding.

"Uh, here." You stretched your arms out. "I just remembered I can't cook."

Isogai blinked in confusion. "H-huh? B-but your parents."

"Oh, I'll just order something in." You chuckled. "So take it."

"I-I couldn't." He furiously shook his head. The idea of accepting such expensive meat on top of everything else clearly horrified him.

"Please do." You insisted. "I really don't mind."

Your parents wouldn't miss it. They certainly wouldn't care if a few packages of meat you'd bought on a whim never made it to their table. Last year, you begged your father for a pair of designer shoes and only wore them once. This was nothing in comparison.

"B-but-" Isogai kept refusing, but you ended up gently shoving the bag to his chest.

"Take it." You said. "I'm sure you'll know how to cook it better than me."

You would just end up burning it, anyway.

He held the bag hesitantly at first, fingers tightening around the handles as he slowly realized you weren't going to take no for an answer.

He pressed his lips together, and you noticed how his eyes started to water.

You could never fully understand the amount of gratitude Isogai was feeling to obtain this amount of food for free. He's always scraping together what he has in the fridge just so his siblings don't have to go to school hungry.

It was a struggle, even if he managed in the end.

But having the extra food definitely does help. Also, he doesn't remember a time when he and his family had steak. This will definitely make them happy.

"Thank you!" Isogai bowed, and you flinched. "I'll enjoy every bite! I don't know how I can repay your kindness!"

Your heart flips. "O-oh, um..." You shyly twirled your hair. "Your number?

Isogai lifted his head. "Huh?"

You cleared your throat. "Your number." You repeated, sounding more confident. "How about you give me your number?"

"Oh." Isogai straightened his back and furrowed his brows. "That's all?"

You nodded happily. "Yes. I understand you're a busy fellow, but I would like us to keep in contact at least."

Isogai blinks slowly a few times, but then smiles gently. "Alright."

Isogai takes his phone out as you do. Yours was a new model while his was still generations old. Of course, being too into this boy, you don't notice the type of phone he has, like you typically would.

All you could focus on was that you had his number.

Isogai gazed at your number for a moment. His eyes flickered to your eyes, and he opened his mouth briefly to say something, but he felt a sense of shyness overcome him.

Isogai cleared his throat and opened his mouth again. "Get home safely, (l/n)," he said, his eyes softening before slipping into his home.

"Good night, Isogai..." You smiled kindly.

His door shut, and you stood there for a minute, feeling like you were waking up from a wonderful dream.

With the biggest smile on your face, you walked back to your car, which would take you back to the luxurious lifestyle you were used to, but you wouldn't mind coming back to this exact humble home from time to time.
