The D*ffers treated Robin and her queerness and her relationship with Vickie as a prop and a means to an end, the same way they did with Byler in s4. The only reason Robin and Vickie kissed and the only reason their relationship got “developed” was directly in service to help Will process his feelings. There’s a reason Will and Robin’s relationship kind of rubbed me the wrong way (even tho I love them don’t get me wrong), and it’s because these weren’t two queer people’s storylines being written alongside each other. This was a lesbian and her lesbian relationship being used as a plot device to help a gay man work through his identity. Robin deserved her own lesbian storyline and relationship that didn’t merely serve to prop up the Mike and Will storyline.
