June 23, 2026
June 22 — The Saskatoon Mamba of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) defeat the Ottawa BlackJacks 101-98 on the road, with a game winning three pointer coming from Tavian Dunn-Martin and a career best game coming from Tevian Jones with 36 points. Tevian Jones commented on his career night, “I think it was a good start to the game, my teammates were finding me in the right positions and we came together early”. He added, “we as a team need to continue what we have been doing, and continue to focus on defense and rebounding”. The Mamba went into target time down by seven points, a familiar situation this Mamba team has faced in games past. Coach Fox spoke about this comeback, “it speaks to the togetherness of our team, I am more proud about how the guys came together and the way they encouraged each other throughout than any of the X’s and O’s”. This win marks the fourth straight win for the Mamba, while winning six of their last seven games. “It definitely speaks to our team’s resiliency, this is a tough league because this season is basically a sprint”, stated Coach Fox. “For us to have started 0-4 and to have come through that pressure to get some wins and start battling, shows this team’s character”. Alongside the win against the BlackJacks, the Mamba return home after also beating the Niagara River Lions on the road in a lopsided victory 104-77. Making it the biggest point differential win in team history with 27. Which included shutting down River Lions star Khalil Ahmed for only nine points. Bediako commented on the consistency of the team and how they held on to the large lead, “it is really the game plan, today’s game displayed we are all making the right reads for each other". He continued, “everyone got into the action which was a main contributor”. These statement wins against the River Lions and the Ottawa BlackJacks cements the Mamba as the hottest team in the CEBL with four straight wins and sole possession of third place in the Western Conference. Only two wins out of first place. Tavian Dunn Martin commented on the team's recent success, “the confidence is really high, I feel like the energy has been good in practice and it is translating to the game”. He continued, “I feel like we found our rhythm now that we’ve had a few games with all the players finally here, I hope we continue to have this confidence”.
