The recent killings in Maine and Texas brought to at least seven the number of people shot dead during immigration enforcement operations since January 2025.
In 10 states, including Minnesota and North Dakota, counties administer the SNAP program. The National Association of Counties has said the cost shift will threaten food access and county funding.
