A Big Change

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I wanted to let all of you know that, as of July 1, I will begin working at the Center for Family Wealth Dynamics and Governance™ at Merrill Lynch.  The Center works collaboratively with wealthy individuals and their families to help them be purposeful in sustaining their wealth and values across generations. The Center’s mission is to empower families to define the purpose of their wealth and to be intentional about wealth’s impact on themselves, their families and their communities. The Center provides thought leadership around financial education, family governance, family heritage and philanthropy, and facilitates family meetings to help address top family goals and relevant issues.

In some important ways my job will not change – I will continue to work with families and their advisors, write and speak.  That said, Merrill’s work lies on the cutting edge of what is happening in the world of advising successful families. They have forged remarkable partnerships and are conducting groundbreaking research.  The are advising extraordinary clients that doing remarkable things both within their families and in the world at large.  In this new position, I will be working closely with the team to continue to develop strategies and approaches that truly work to shift family culture.   I view this as an opportunity to paint on a much larger canvas with a team of people I like and respect.

This will also mean change.  I will no longer be available to work with client families on my own.  To the extent than any advisors would like me to connect them with the handful of people I trust to do the delicate work of working with families, please feel free to contact me.  I will send my new contact information as it is available, but in the meantime, you can reach me in the usual ways.

With warmest regards,

Matt

Wow! Matthew, I wish you deep satisfaction with this new turn in your journey, and hope your clients appreciate your wisdom and perspective as much as I have had the pleasure to do. Warm congratulations, friend.

Matthew - your keynote at last year's PPI conference was inspiring. Will you continue to bring us your groundbreaking ideas (e.g., Wm Gibson's "the future is already here...)?
