Female leaders have a different experience than their male counterparts. The sexist dialogue that exists isn’t just perpetrated by men against women. Women also engage in it against eachother.
About us
Peninsula Montessori Academy (Peninsula) is a growing international family of schools that follows the American Montessori Society (AMS) standards. Our AMS member schools are engaged in the AMS Pathway to Accreditation program to ensure that exceptional Montessori education is provided. We are committed to establishing an environment that encourages children to reach their full potential while nurturing a love for learning. This is accomplished through a whole-child approach emphasizing academic success and personal growth. We strive to provide a supportive, enriching atmosphere for our staff and to build a welcoming and collaborative relationship with parents and families. We meet each child with curiosity and faith in their potential. Children will demonstrate their greatest capabilities by engaging in an environment built on secure, loving relationships and engaging with hands-on learning materials responsive to their interests and developmental needs. We build an open, welcoming partnership with families and the broader community. We value diversity and are committed to promoting connection and understanding among all community members. As educators, we are deeply dedicated to Montessori philosophy. We prioritize reflective practices and ongoing growth, informed by the latest research and best practices, to ensure that we provide your child with the best possible education.

Montessori unlocks creativity by allowing children the time and resources to explore their interests, to engage in finding solutions, and expanding their understanding of the world around them.
Think Montessori limits creativity? Read on... In a Montessori environment, creativity is not only encouraged—it’s foundational. But instead of fantasy play in the early years, creativity is nurtured through real, hands-on experiences that build curiosity, confidence, and originality. Children explore open-ended materials, express themselves through art and music, and engage in storytelling and imaginative thinking—when it’s developmentally appropriate. Dr. Montessori recognized that young children are deeply interested in the real world. By offering meaningful, purposeful activities early on, children develop the focus and freedom that later fuels rich imaginative thinking. When fantasy does emerge, usually around age six, it is welcomed and supported as part of a child’s expanding intellectual and emotional life. Research supports this approach. A 2006 study in Science by Lillard & Else-Quest found that Montessori students demonstrated significantly higher levels of creativity and problem-solving than their peers in conventional settings. By giving children time, space, and trust, Montessori invites real creativity to flourish. #amicanada #montessori #education #creativity #supportcreativity #parenting #earlychildhoodeducation

🌍 May 16 – International Day of Living Together in Peace In Montessori, peace is more than a concept — it is a living practice that starts within the child and expands outward, creating a world grounded in understanding and empathy. Following the devastation of the Second World War, the United Nations was established with the goal of saving succeeding generations from the scourge of war. One of its core purposes was to promote respect for human rights and freedoms for all, regardless of race, gender, language, or religion. In 1997, the UN proclaimed the year 2000 as the International Year for a Culture of Peace, and in 1999, it adopted the Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace, calling for a world rooted in non-violence and mutual understanding. Maria Montessori believed that true peace begins with the child. She saw peace not as the mere absence of conflict, but as a dynamic process involving empathy, respect, and cooperation. In her view, peace was something we actively cultivate — in the child, in the classroom, and in our communities. ✨ On this day, let us reflect on how we can actively participate in peace-building — starting with our children. ✨ In Montessori classrooms, we teach children not only to understand peace but to live it through empathy, cooperation, and care for others. ✨ Peace is not a passive state — it requires constant dialogue, respect, and collaboration. The UN Declaration on a Culture of Peace reminds us that achieving peace requires eliminating all forms of discrimination and intolerance and creating spaces where mutual understanding and cooperation can flourish. Together, we can build a future where peace is the foundation of all relationships. #InternationalDayOfLivingTogetherInPeace #MontessoriPeace #MontessoriWisdom #PeaceEducation #FollowTheChild #GlobalCitizenship #NonViolence #UNCultureOfPeace

Montessori classrooms aren’t divided by grade—they’re connected by communication, support, and respect. Mixed-age communities build empathy, leadership, and lifelong skills. “To segregate by age is one of the cruellest and most inhuman things one can do.” — Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind And research agrees. Children in mixed-age classrooms show increased collaboration, confidence, and compassion. It’s education that mirrors real life—and helps prepare our children to shape a better one. #amicanada #montessori #education

Montessori is a method that requires extensive curriculum knowledge, a deep understanding of human development and an attunement to the spiritual and social needs of people. Montessori educators are committed to life-long learning and growth.
Think Montessori is just for preschool? Read on... Montessori is more than an educational approach — it's a way of life. From toddlers to teens, the Montessori philosophy supports independence, curiosity, and respect for the individual. But it doesn’t stop there… Today, Montessori principles are transforming workplaces, communities, and even elder care environments — fostering dignity, purpose, and connection at every stage of life. Because when we honour the needs of the individual, we build healthier, more human systems — from the classroom to the boardroom to the care home. Montessori: for life. #amicanada #montessori #education #myths
