Rep. Rick Allen (R-Ga.) said that “across the nation and around the world, Jewish people continue to face discrimination, intimidation and violence.”
Deena Margolies, of the Brandeis Center, told JNS that antisemitism in healthcare is a bigger problem than a single union or doctor and is becoming “normalized.”
“I don’t want to quit. I’m not a quitter,” Steve Cohen said. “But these districts were drawn to beat me. They were drawn to defeat me.”
“This vote isn’t about whether we should crush the Iranian regime. We should,” Rep. Josh Gottheimer stated. “This is about defending the Constitution.”
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz told JNS that it was “really important” to pass the measure, “given the explosive rise in antisemitism,” including violent attacks.
“I want to destroy their nuclear programs, their ballistic missile program, their drone programs and their terrorist proxy programs,” the congressman said of Iran. “But that said, you can’t leave the United States Congress in the dark any longer.”
“Advancing religious freedom protects a fundamental human right that underpins a nation’s security, economic prosperity and stability,” said the chair of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.
“These are not just numbers on a page but are lived experience of all Jewish Americans,” Rep. Brad Knott said, of Jew-hatred, on the House floor.
“It is critical that we work across party lines to stop and reverse this dangerous trend,” stated Sen. Jacky Rosen, co-chair of the Senate Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism.
“One has to wonder how that humble pie tastes for the Democrats today,” Sam Markstein of the Republican Jewish Coalition told JNS.
Washington is “fighting this war side-by-side with a country, whose potential nuclear weapons program the U.S. government officially refuses to acknowledge,” the lawmakers wrote to the U.S. secretary of state.
“A lot of people working without the certainty of pay working, previously, literally without pay. It’s a really big deal,” Rep. Brian Mast told JNS.
