Cigarettes are world objects found throughout the wastelands.

Products that were manufactured before the Great War, smoking resulted in a course voice and damage to the lungs.[1][2][3] Smoking was allowed in some spaces, such as breakrooms, recreational venues like bowling alleys, and resorts, but not in others such as sections of vaults.[4][5][6] Cigarettes as a commodity were used as rewards as well as bribes.[7][8]
Clipper Ship cigarette machines were common, and owning one rendered a profit from sales.[9] Cigarettes were advertised as a coping mechanism for anxiety and overstimulation and dispensers were installed in hospitals.[10] Nuka-Cola Corporation marketed candy called "Cappy's Candy Cigarettes."[11]
Wastelanders such as Robert MacCready and Nick Valentine mention cigarettes if asked.[12][13] Water caravan employees, John Cassidy, and Viscious also mention the product.[14][15][16] Jericho mentions cigarettes becoming harder to come by when scavenging.[17][18]
