Leslibraires.ca website accessibility
The Librairies indépendantes du Québec cooperative is sensitive to the accessibility issues experienced by some of its customers. In addition to offering a range of accessible books, we intend to make our Website as accessible as possible for people with a disability or specific challenges. Our team devotes substantial efforts in order to comply with the Standard sur l’accessibilité des sites Web du gouvernement du Québec, while at the same time meeting accessible Web standards (HTML5, W3C, RGAA).
We keep abreast of the latest innovations in the field of accessibility to ensure that everyone can easily browse our Website regardless of their disabilities. Accessibility was at the heart of our concerns when redesigning our Website and is a prerequisite for the next development phases which will be progressively carried out.
Our accessible books
We invite you to view our catalog of accessible books.
Among other things, you will find books with an EPUB version which:
- is compatible with screen readers;
- is compatible with TTS modules;
- also contains an audio version;
- synchronizes text and audio;
- allows you to adjust the text and its layout;
- allows you to browse using a table of contents;
- allow you to browse at the top of the page;
- describes images.
Action plan – Accessibility of our Website
We are working hard to ensure that our website complies with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (WCAG 2.0) established by the international organization World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), as well as Accessible Web standards. Our teams work continuously to achieve this. This page will be progressively updated as soon as we can confirm that certain additional features now comply with all these standards.
Potential obstacles or problems
For an optimal accessible experience, we recommend you use an up-to-date browser and activate the following settings:
- JavaScript
- Pop-up windows
- Cookies
- PDF reader (i.e. Adobe Reader) and DRM protection
- SSL protocol
- CSS
Please note that certain elements on our website do not meet the aforementioned standards. These include:
- downloadable files;
- abbreviations on certain pages, such as the abbreviation LIQ (which stands for Librairies indépendantes du Québec);
- a dynamic map.
The team that manages our digital platforms strives to continuously improve this Website. Efforts are being made so that all our content which currently fails to meet the government standards will ultimately be made accessible.
