Harmful Content
The West Virginia & Regional History Center strives to present and describe the images in West Virginia History OnView (WVHOV) in a way that is respectful to, and informed by, the communities who use, create, and are represented in our collections.
However, WVHOV includes some content containing outdated, biased, and offensive imagery that may be harmful or difficult to view. The original images have not been altered because the content provides historical context for understanding the era, attitudes, and opinions of the creators and subjects. Due to the biases embedded within created descriptions and historical materials, there may be occurrences of biases, language, positions, and values in the collections that do not align with the values and practices at the WVRHC.
Please fill out the Harmful Content Form should you come across something you think needs to be updated. Updates will be made as harmful content is identified.
