my actual vampire hot take is that if you're going to be a 'vegetarian' vampire (a vampire that only drinks the blood of animals) you MUST have hunter education. i'm so sick of people being like oh well predator animals are mean and scary because they kill cute 'harmless' animals like NO they're crucial for the environment and if you're going to hunt animals for blood you still need to stick to regular people hunting guidelines and only hunt things that are in season and abide by your areas bag limits
vampire that did a detailed study about whether vampires can get prion diseases and concluded they can't and preferentially hunts animals with chronic wasting disease. and then incinerates the corpses.
vampire who is a woke predation abolitionist and so exclusively hunts predators, leaving primarily herbivorous and scavenging animals alone
"For miles around the foul creature's lair is nothing but barren wastes"
"because of The Curse?"
"Because of the deer and rabbits, fucking thing ate all the wolves"
There is something so special about a paperback. A sweet smell as you turn the pages. The softness of the cover. The richness of the text. Foldable and lovable. You cant get that with digital copies.
Another public service announcement. This time it’s air quality. Some of you are probably in it already if you’re in eastern Canada, New England or New York, but it’s sliding south, a huge mass of wildfire smoke. Please be careful. When it starts getting bad, especially, like when the sky gets orange or brownish, it’s best to run air purifiers in the house and wear N95 or KN95 masks when you have to go outside.
It harms your lungs and it’s especially bad for children (and pets!) or anyone with health problems. There are all kinds of chemicals in that smoke. It’s not only trees that are burning. The heat already makes it harder to breath. This makes it worse.
If any of you are experiencing it, feel free to tell about it in the comments. 💚
Also, throw out the mask every day and shower before you get in bed if you’ve been out or you’ll be breathing the particles all night. Stuff like that. It gets all over you, your skin, your hair, your clothes.
for context: my parents were born and raised in Alabama, the heart of the Deep South. they consistently voted Republican for years before Trump came into office and they went "ok this shit is crazy" and jumped ship. they stopped going to church after i came out because they didn't want to go to a place that didn't support their kid. both of them work government jobs and are just as Southern as they are patient, accepting, loving, kind, and level-headed people.
i know i'm an outlier in this case but i just wanted to remind people that the world is not full of horrible people, not every adult is a bigot, and you do not have to settle for the bare minimum when seeking love and acceptance from the people close to you. may every queer person on earth find family or equivalent that is as beautiful to them as my parents have been to me, despite their flaws. we're going to be okay. i love y'all
