Wild wacky weddings, and the people who plan 'em

Just joined this community so thought would introduce ourselves we are Ben & Lea and live in Leeds (UK) and plan to get married in Israel  early next spring (2009) at the moment the only people who know we are engaged are people we know via Livejournal (feel free to 'friend us') and the guy who lives next door to us.

We are having our Chuppah hand made by a lady on Etsy, Ben has just said 'we are having a totally Etsy wedding' and he is right as thus far everything is from Etsy!

We can confirm my dress wont be A - line and strapless so yeah our wedding will be different.

For the next hurdle to tell my parents were engaged!  ( we got engaged on Feb 10th)

I think somebody here is a major Michael jackson fan. Kudos to the wedding party for going along with it.

In exactly 2 months from right now I'll be finishing up at the hairdressers and then hurrying home to get my makeup done and get dressed in my wedding gown. I'll have already picked up mine and zoe's bouquets from the florist and will probably be shaking like a leaf. Probably crying too. that will probably ruin my makeup....eeeekkk it's coming up so close.

So my fiance and I are trying to decide what we would like to do for our bachelor and bachelorette parties. Right now we are thinking of having a co party for us both which was actually his idea. My best friend thinks that's a bad idea. Since our wedding is so detailed and themed (i posted pics a few days ago)... should we have a party that reflects that theme... or just go get drunk with our friends??? Honestly neither me or my fiance are the lingerie and strippers kinda people. If our friends gave us "naughty" gifts we'd probably both throw up.. or be like .."...ummmm thanks?". I have no clue.... help?

I loooove explaining our wedding. Ok picture an old movie, 1940's blond bombshell... black and white with a jazz/ganster theme.... that's our wedding. Everything from our cake to our invites to our plates and forks ... is all black and white. We are having everyone use a martini glass (plastic except for the wedding party). Our centerpieces are glass martini glasses with black silk ribbons tied around them and tealights inside. The favors are faux pearl necklaces, to go with the vintage theme. I am going to drape them around the centerpieces. My MOH is going to wear a swing style black dress (actually 1940's, I found it at a vintage shop) and the groom and best man are in ganster outfits. My dress was made by me and is just stunning. The flowers are all black roses and white carnations.
