What do you need help with in your crafting? Being more creative? Having a more organized craft area/room? Selling your crafts more effectively? Finishing WIPs? Confidence?
OTOH, what are your crafting strengths? What do you think you do a fantastic job at? What are you so good at that you think you could teach it?
Today I’ve been repairing some old bracelets, restringing them with “Stretch Magic” elastic string. I thought it would be a chore, but I’m actually really enjoying it. One of the bracelets I fixed is made up of beads between little wooden tiles, and it sort of inspired me. I’m thinking I might want to make a bracelet out of Scrabble tiles. But how to drill the holes in the tiles? Is there some sort of little craft drill I might buy, or would I have to fight with a regular, heavy drill?
I hope people are still watching this community. We should try to get it hopping again.
Does anyone remember an entry, I don't know what group it was from, but it posted a lot of small, material bags for stuff like a little bit of makeup or a cell phone. Some had cute appliques on them and they were wild colors. It had directions or at least a link to directions. I have looked EVERYWHERE and cannot find these. I finally got some material I wanted to use and now I can't find the entry. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to make my own pattern, but I really liked how these were put together with satin lining and stuff. I'M SENDING OUT POSITIVE ENERGY THAT SOMEBODY WILL REMEMBER AND KNOW WHERE TO FIND THESE!!! LOL!! Thanks for your help.
Hi All! It's been such a long time since I've been on LJ that I haven't kept up with this wonderful group though I can say I was one of the first to join when it started! (Go me!)
My question is this: Did we ever start to do swaps or was there another community made for that? Can anyone suggest some good ones either on LJ or the web? I have stuff for scrapbooking and cardmaking that is good stuff but just not my type (you know what I mean!).
Thanks so much and I hope to be posting some personal crafty stuff soon.
My doctor and his wife adopted a baby last spring. Then the wife had a baby in August. What's more, their second adoption is supposed to go through at the beginning of the new year! Three newborn girls in the space of a year. Can you imagine? :D
I made the first daughter a pink and white blanket to go with the color theme they chose. For the second daughter, I decided to add another color so that it would be easier to tell whose blanket they were grabbing.
I hope this isn't too far off topic. If it is, mods please feel free to delete.
Here's the situation: I am helping to organize an art/craft fair to benefit a group of Burmese refugees living in Austin, TX. They come from a tribe that has a strong tradition of weaving, and we're hoping to use that to help make them more self-sustaning. Part of the art fair is going to be a fair trade market - preferably with groups that are helping to ease social injustice. So far we've got the refugees' weaving, a group from Africa that supports single mothers by teaching them to make beaded necklaces from old magazines, and possibly a group from central america that helps kids leave gangs by teaching them to be artists.
Does anyone know of other groups that have a similar mission that we could invite to be part of our market? It would be even cooler if we could get groups that make thigns from recycled materials, like the beaded necklaces.
Here are some invitations I made for my son's first all friend birthday party. A friend of the family is a magician and he's going to perform a magic show for the kids. The theme revolves around magic. So I made top hats for the invitations and you have pull out the bunny to get the party info. Basically I just found some clip art in my card making program. Added the necessary information. Printed and then cut out the pieces. Added a slit in the hat top, inserted bunny and finished. I think they are cute.
