Refund Policy

Last updated: April 30, 2026

VULK operates on a recurring subscription model. This page explains when refunds are issued, how cancellations work, and what statutory rights EU consumers retain.

1. All fees are non-refundable — credits are consumed in real time

All fees paid to VULK — monthly subscriptions, yearly subscriptions, and credit top-ups — are non-cancelable and non-refundable, except where required by mandatory local law. The Free plan is, by definition, free of charge.

The reason is straightforward and physical: credits map to real AI-inference costs we have already paid to upstream providers (OpenRouter, Vertex AI, OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI) the moment a generation runs. We cannot recover that money. Refunding the customer would mean we'd eat the cost of compute that has already been delivered to them.

This applies even when:

 • Only some of the credits in your plan have been consumed (the unused balance is not refunded).
 • You cancel the subscription mid-period (access continues until period end; no prorated refund).
 • You believe a generation produced lower-quality output than expected (re-running a generation costs additional credits — that's the platform pricing model, not a defect).
 • You no longer need the service.

2. EU 14-day withdrawal right is waived at checkout

Under Directive 2011/83/EU, EU consumers normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a distance contract. Article 16(m) of that Directive explicitly removes this right for the supply of digital content when (a) supply has begun and (b) the consumer has given prior express consent and acknowledged the loss of the right of withdrawal.

At checkout you tick a consent box that says exactly this. The text is captured in the Stripe receipt as well as in our database. By completing payment you expressly consent to immediate provision of digital content and waive the 14-day right of withdrawal. After that point, no refund is available — including for unused credits or accounts that never run a generation.

This is standard SaaS practice and fully compliant with Article 16(m). Mandatory consumer-protection rights that cannot be waived (e.g., your national chargeback rights for fraud) remain unaffected.

3. Cancellations

You can cancel your subscription at any time in Settings → Billing. Cancellation:

 • Stops the next renewal charge — no further fees will be billed.
 • Keeps your access until period end — paid time is not lost.
 • Does not refund the current period's fee.

4. Trial cancellations

All fees paid to VULK — monthly subscriptions, yearly subscriptions, and credit top-ups — are non-cancelable and non-refundable, except where required by mandatory local law. The Free plan is, by definition, free of charge.

5. Plan changes (upgrades & downgrades)

 • Upgrade — billed prorated for the remainder of the current period; the higher-tier plan starts immediately.
 • Downgrade — takes effect at the end of the current period (no immediate refund of the difference).
 • Switching monthly ↔ yearly — handled the same way as upgrades / downgrades respectively.

6. Edge cases

 • Duplicate charge — if Stripe shows two charges for the same plan within 24 h, contact us; we issue a full refund of the duplicate after verification.
 • Service outage exceeding the SLA — Business plan customers receive service credits per the SLA; not cash refunds.
 • Account closed by us for ToS violation — no refund is issued. See Terms § 6.
 • Charge dispute / chargeback — opening a chargeback automatically suspends the account. We strongly prefer that you contact us first; we resolve most disputes within 48 h.

7. How to request a refund

Use the contact form selecting topic "Billing / Refund" and include:

 • Account email
 • Stripe receipt URL or last 4 digits of the card
 • Reason

We respond within 1 business day. Approved refunds reach your card within 5–10 business days (Stripe / issuer dependent).

8. Tax and invoicing

EU VAT is applied per your billing country (EU MOSS rules). On refund approval, we issue a credit note that reverses the VAT charge. Outside the EU, sales tax handling depends on the buyer's jurisdiction.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes are announced by email at least 14 days before they take effect. The current version always lives at /refund-policy.
