Fancy Vegetarian Dining

Hello all. I know I've read posting about nicer restaurants that offer vegetarian items before, but I cannot seem to find the thread! My boyfriend and I are celebrating our one year anniversary and would like to go somewhere nice for dinner. I know Ralph's on the Park no longer has their vegetarian menu...could someone suggest any other nice place that caters to vegetarians? The only stuff I've been able to find so far is pasta and we were more in the mood for something a little different. Thanks for any help!!

Jacques-Imo's

Hey, everyone. My brother-in-law is going to be visiting next week with some buddies and they want real Cajun and Creole food. We were planning on taking them to Jacques-Imo's on Oak St. The thing we're worried about is that my husband and I are both vegetarians (no meat, no seafood). The menu is missing from their web page and we've never been there before. Will there be anything there for us to eat? Is there anything gluten free (my doctor's orders, not my choice!)?

Thanks for your help!

Soy Milk Uses?

Hallo, my name is Veronica. First off, I have cross-posted this many times, and I apologize if it is deemed off-topic.

I usually drink SkimPlus or Silk Soymilk [various flavours.] I recently bought the 8th Continent brand; I believe it is a lite, or diet, version, and I know for a fact that it's vanilla. However, I cannot bring myself to enjoy it! I've tried it plain, with a pastry, in hot chocolate, mixed with cereal, and in coffee, but all without luck. It's a fairly large container, so I'd absolutely HATE to let it go to waste. Are there any ways I can consume this milk while somehow masking its flavour? Do you know of any baking recipes that call for a decent amount of milk?

Thank you!

So does anyone still read this? I just moved back home to the N.O. area and my sister and I (both vegans) are trying to get active. We are helping out at ARNO and possibly working on a project by Pet Justice concerning the massive amount of dogs that were shot post Katrina by law enforcement. Is anyone interested?

I would love to chat with someone who knows the good places to eat around here

Hit me up sometime!

Chinese food

My husband and I are relatively new to NOLA (about a month before the hurricane hit) and even newer to veg (a couple of months, I think). We both LOVE Chinese food and were desperately jones-ing for some last weekend. We looked at the menus of a couple of places (China Orchid and Five Happiness) and didn't find much in the way of veg entrees. Each place had ONE listed, and they were some sort of eggplant thing.

My question is.... where do we go to get good veg Chinese food? Any places have more of a variety than just one eggplant dish or plain old veggies (which we can easily fix at home)?

General Tsao's Chicken was his favorite and on Saturday he was soooo close to saying f-it! and getting it with chicken anyway.

Help!

EDIT: Thanks, everyone! If there are any other suggestions, feel free to add to the list. Cheers!
