From BW&BK:

"DEMONS & WIZARDS - Touched By The Crimson King Tracklisting Revealed [Hot Flashes - 05.04.05 10:07:27]

SPV Records have confirmed that DEMONS & WIZARDS’ new album, Touched By The Crimson King, will be released through the label on June 27th.

The album will feature the following tracklisting: ‘Crimson King’, ‘Beneath These Waves’, ‘Terror Train’, ‘Seize The Day’, ‘The Gunslinger’, ‘Love’s Tragedy Asunder’, ‘Wicked Witch’, ‘Dorian’, ‘Down Where I Am’ and ‘Immigrant Song’ (LED ZEPPELIN cover).

Demons & Wizards features ICED EARTH’s Jon Schaffer (guitar) and BLIND GUARDIAN’s Hansi Kursch (vocals/bass), alongside guitarist Ritchie Wilkinson, bassist Oliver Holzwarth and drummer Richard Christy."

All right. Some of the titles are looking a bit weak, but hey, it's D&W. It's gotta be killer.

And Hansi doing IMMIGRANT SONG! FUCK. YES.

No news is good news...
Hi there,

No news is good news. This obviously is bad news. After walking along the same musical paths for about 20 years and after several long, open and honest discussions between the four band members, we have all (including Thomen) come to the same conclusion that it is now best for Thomen to leave the band.

Since we developed different musical and personal directions for quite a while now, it turned out to be more and more difficult to find acceptable and suitable solutions for everyone in the band. Such circumstances would have eventually caused severe internal problems. Therefore, to avoid any damage to our close relationship this difficult step is essential. In terms of creativity or progression neither one of us would like to hold the other one back. Due to that fact the split seems to be a sad, but reasonable solution. We wish Thomen all the best for the future and hope to come up with more positive news in the near future.

…and day shall come again

Hansi

Dear Bards,

As you may have read in Hansi's statement, I am no longer the drummer of Blind Guardian. From now on we are going our separate ways, at least musically. I must admit it is quite a sad, but necessary decision in order for us to remain friends.

I stand fully behind Hansi's declaration, so I will keep my statement as short as possible, and wish Blind Guardian all the best for the future, hoping that they find another drummer without any hassle.

I would also like to use this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you who stood by us through all those years, especially our fans. You are the best!!! I hope to see you again soon!

A big thank you to my old colleagues, Hansi, Andre and Marcus, for all the amazing times we've shared.

Take care,
Thomen"

Too late for an April Fools joke. We'll miss you Thomen.

"SYMPHONY X "Working At A Good Pace On Writing The New CD" [Hot Flashes - 05.02.13 10:49:55]

US prog-metallers SYMPHONY X' webmaster has posted the following studio update at their official website:

"They're working at a good pace on writing the new CD, they have parts of songs put together at this point that are equal to about half of the new CD and have lots of ideas that they're working with. They're being very critical with this CD, wanting to kick it up a notch from The Odyssey (2002) and make it the best stuff yet; thus far they're working with material from (guitarist) Michael Romeo, (keyboardist) Michael Pinnella and (bassist) Michael LePond. Mike sounded really intent on cranking out some excellent music; he's in 'the writing zone' and only good things come of it when he's in that mindset. When informed that some fans feared that Mike's comment in an earlier studio report about the new CD being 'darker' than The Odyssey would result in Russ (allen) doing death metal growls or the like, Mike said that wasn't going to happen. Also, The Dungeon (the band's studio) has recently been gutted and totally revamped and is at its best ever acoustically, which should help contribute to some excellent sound on the new CD. More news as it becomes available."

Symphony X' followup to The Odyssey is due out later this year via InsideOut."

Just thought you all would like to know.

"BLIND GUARDIAN - Two Albums On The Go [Hot Flashes - 05.01.25 02:39:47]

BLING GUARDIAN frontman Hansi Kürsch has posted the following update at the band's official website:

"A Happy New Year to everyone! Though you have not heard a lot from us during the last months we have not been lazy at all. There are a lot of things going on at the moment. Just to mention a few: the Demons & Wizards production is making good progress and the same can be said about the songwriting for the next Blind Guardian album which is at a very important point.

André and I have completed five songs for the new album and 10 songs for the orchestral project. Yesterday, we had a meeting with Charlie Bauerfeind (who is going to produce both albums) during which we have set up a rough schedule for the next months. We definitely will start the production within the year and it won't take as much time to accomplish it as it did with A Night at the Opera.

With regards to the next Demons & Wizards album I am happy to tell you that five songs have been mixed for it already and that there are seven more to go. How many of them we are going to use for the regular album and how many we will use as bonus material I can ´t tell you right now. There are 11 Schaffer/Kürsch songs and one cover tune. We will be done with everything mid February. The album surely will be released in late spring, or early summer. I am very pleased with the songs and so is Jon. My favourite tune at the moment is called 'Touched By The Crimson King'. We have not spoken about an album title yet but have to make a decision rather soon. I will let you know."

STRATOVARIUS - Reunited! [Hot Flashes - 05.01.13 14:42:39]

The official STRATOVARIUS site (www.stratovarius.com) has been updated with the following news:

“After all the turmoil of 2004, we are happy to announce that Stratovarius has reunited with the classic line-up: Timo Tolkki, Timo Kotipelto, Jörg Michael, Jari Kainulainen and Jens Johansson.

Since his breakdown in April, we have patiently been waiting for Timo Tolkki's health to improve. It has been, and since about 6 weeks he has been strong enough to go back to work.

Also during the past months, after much talk, soul-searching and reflection most of the damage within the band has been repaired. The rest of us now understand Timo's condition, and have slowly come to terms with it. There has been forgiveness, and everyone has a good relationship again.

Many of the immense problems we were facing have now found concrete solutions.

Lastly, we can announce that work is already in progress on completely new material.”
