The book contains a number of useful phrases and words which might be used in the process of business negotiations.

The book includes the Table of the Chinese Radicals, the main text, the list of used characters, exercises for the Chinese characters study, including exercises on the Chinese characters decomposition.

Quite a number of grammar exercises disclose the theme of the general questions in the Chinese language. Answers to exercises at the end of the book are a good support for self-learners.

PA for research project on interdisciplinarity (apply by 9/14)

Terms: 20 hrs/wk, including health benefits and tuition remission.

Period of employment: starting  September 21 and continuing through the end of the fall semester, with the possibility of extension through June 30, 2011.

Position description: We are looking for a half-time project assistant for a wide-ranging research project focused on the nature and evolution of interdisciplinary science at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery. The assistant will work on many different aspects of the project, including but not limited to: (1) creating a historical archive, (2) conducting interviews, (3) observing public outreach events, (4) preparing grants. The assistant will also be expected to attend and contribute to regular project meetings.

Qualifications: This position requires considerable initiative, as well as the inclination and capacity to work on complex tasks with limited guidance. For instance, we might ask you to create a user-friendly index for a large batch of documents or pull together a summary of popular media reports. Although we’ll give you goals and deadlines, you must be able to structure your own time and ask for help when you need it.

This position requires also requires tact, organization and follow-through. After an initial training period, you’ll be setting up and conducting interviews with a wide range of people. We don’t expect you to be a perfect interviewer at the outset, but we do expect you to demonstrate consistent professionalism and work to develop your interviewing skills.

We will be looking for candidates who have experience with social science research methods such as interviewing, ethnographic observation, social network analysis and coding of qualitative data—although we would also encourage less experienced candidates who have a particularly strong interested in the subject matter to apply. A background in one of the many fields that contribute to the social study of science, technology and medicine would also be useful.

For a proactive, self-motivated student assistant, this position offers a solid opportunity to gain research experience at many levels, including data gathering, data analysis and potentially making creative contributions to our evolving research agenda. We expect that most qualified applicants will be doctoral students.

I currently live by myself in a condo on the west side. There are 3 bedrooms, 1 large one and 2 regular sized ones. I'm asking a different price based on what kind of living arrangement we have but the price will always include, internet, all utilities, dishwasher, garbage disposal, parking spot, in unit laundry, weight room, sauna, and gathering area.There is also underground parking available for $50 a month and extra storage available for $10 a month. I am the property manager of the unit so if anything goes wrong I'll be on site to make sure it gets taken care of in a speedy manner.

I don't smoke, do any drugs, and rarely drink. I am currently a graduate student at the UW so I spend most of my time downtown. I'm kind of a nerd/geek so it would prob help if you were at least a little nerdy too. But in general its a quiet neighborhood with lots to do.

I am seeing a roommate for mid-August. The apartment is a 2-bedroom and you'll have your own room. I would prefer a female non-smoking roommate. It is a first-floor apartment in an 8-unit building on the South Side of Madison. 2 bus lines are nearby (the 13 runs very close by.)

Cats are allowed (though I currently do not have any).
Heat is included. Rent is 720/2 = 360 per person, plus electric.
Floors are wood in the living and dining area, new carpet in the bedroom.
Kitchen appliances are new. No dishwasher.
There is a window-type A/C unit in the living area but I find I don't use it very much.
Storage unit in the basement.
Community garden and bike path nearby (easy walking distance).

Hi all, I am starting a job at the university and need to set up a bank account for direct deposit - I used to use Bank of America, but since there are no branch offices (or even B of A ATMs) anywhere nearby (the closest one is 70 miles away, according to their website, though there's a home loan office in town)..

Description:

The Arabic Persian and Turkish Immersion Program (APIP) is an eight week intensive language program offered each summer on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. Funding for APIP is contributed by several university based programs in the United States, including Global Studies at UW-Madison, that receive funding from the US Department of Education Title VI program.  APIP is governed by the UW-Madison management team which includes the Director and Associate Director of Global Studies.  The management team oversees the activities of approximately 8 instructors and 50 graduate and undergraduate students.  This position is available immediately for the rest of the school year at 50-75% and 100% over the summer, with possible renewal for the 2010-11 academic year.
