Embassy of Utopia

*

We are all potential ambassadors of peace and unity - that is what this community is about. It's about tolerance and understanding for different cultures, races, religions, etc. In order to form an ideal environment for interaction, or utopia, we must start with little things!

Join us in discussion - no matter what it is. Remember, our goal is to keep it lively, and open-minded!

Take a minute to acquaint yourself with illadi, the community creator and maintainer. We ask that, if you join, please make a short entry and introduce yourself :)

But before you think you wanna join, please read the smackdown we have layed before you. If you are in agreement with our smackdown, you may proceed to click "join."

1. No Blasphemy/Sacreligious comments. We're all people with certain beliefs and we must respect that.

2. We reserve the right to act weird. And so do you.

3. Discussion and debate is encouraged - fighting and name-calling (apart from geek, nerd, weirdo, other words in that respect) will not be tolerated. You get 3 warnings because sometimes it is hard to control strong emotions and we understand that. But you will be booted if you don't learn to be respectful.

4. Please, if you join, try to post something about yourself, even if you really don't have much to say. A "hello, my name is.." and maybe some interesting things about yourself will suffice. While it is not mandatory, it is not optional either. We really encourage you to speak up.

4. Those who stand in ways of peaceness will be punished severely by many dire dowel rods of torture!!(Or maybe we'll just boot you out of our community...)

***Warning: prepare to leave your little box behind and step into a new world.

UNICEF

Please join the LJ Community Fundraising Effort for UNICEF!

Together with your contribution to this important organization, we will strengthen UNICEF's life-saving education, immunization and malnutrition programs.

Here are some examples of how a little can go a long way:

* Just 6 cents can provide one packet of oral rehydration salts for one child to treat severe dehydration and diarrhea, a leading cause of death among young children in developing nations.

* $1 protects a child from measles for life. Measles is lethally infectious. It is still responsible for 750,000 child deaths annually.

* $1.20 can immunize a mother and her newborns against maternal and neonatal tetanus, which is completely preventable but claims the lives of about 30,000 mothers and 200,000 newborns each year.

* $2.50 can provide one child with basic school supplies such as pencils, books, chalk, slate board and paper.

* $10 can provide one carton of biscuits to support and rehabilitate three severely malnourished children for one month.

Since it takes so little to make an impact, I hope you'll support me in this important cause. Above is the link to the fundraising webpage, through which you can make a donation. Please help save children in need!
