So unproductive.
Feb. 24th, 2011 04:57 pmSo I've had this entire week off (thank you, public school calendar), which I've sorely needed. January was rough (5.5 snows days is hell on school culture) and then the new quarter started, which is always a mess (our charter school enrolls new kids every quarter). This break couldn't have come at a better time.
I have done nothing but lounge around, reading fanfic and eating clementines, and it has been hedonistically delightful. I have also been studiously not thinking about the fact that I'll be unemployed again in 5 months (what's this adulthood you speak of?) But, let's not speak of such things! Instead: things that are delightful!
1. This live performance of Cosmic Love by Florence + The Machine.
( So lovely. )
I've been obsessed with Dog Days for months now since I heard it once on the radio, and I like Cosmis Love well enough, but this performance SLAYS me. Florence Welch just has the most unearthly, gorgeous voice ever, and I love how live performances can sometimes completely transform songs for me.
2. I've been rediscovering my love for Go Do by Jónsi, which I listened to obsessively during my drive from Minnesota to Connecticut after graduation last summer and it's just absolutely breathtaking. Also, this is one of the greatest mashups I've ever heard: I Wanna Bulletproof Dancer (La Roux vs. Robyn vs. Whitney Houston vs. Taylor Swift) by Titus Jones. I KNOW. JUST TRUST ME.
3. Before Inception, I never read WIPs. Never. INCEPTION FANDOM HAS RUINED ME. But there are so many brilliant ones out there and they are so devastatingly good. The few that I'm keeping track of at the moment:
The one where Arthur is 17 and Eames is his pediatrician. I am DYYYYYYING, oh my god, this hits ALL my kinks.
The thing that isn't happening that
helenish is writing. I can't believe I just started reading it this week, but it actually makes me clutch my heart and roll around in glee. Arthur is older! and adopted a teenage!Eames! and now it's ten years later and there is so much agonizingly good UST. UUUGGGGHHH.
We Can Do This Until We Pass Out by
delires, which is actually done, but I was reading it as a WIP. It's chav!Eames fic, and I'm sure everyone's read this by now, but just in case there's anyone else out there who's on the brink of being incepted. *g*
4. So a couple years ago, the boy and I were traipsing around Europe, and in London I caught this celebrity panal game show on TV and it was hilarious and I can't for the life of me remember what it was called. In my quest to rediscover it, I found Never Mind The Buzzcocks, which, sadly, wasn't the show the I'd seen in London, but now I'm in love with Simon Amstell. He's like a gay, British, lolarious Jesse Eisenberg.
I've watched several episodes now, and these two have had me dying with laughter:
The one with Stephen Fry, LOVE OF MY LIFE. Simon Amstell seems to to think so, too.
( I'm a national fucking treasure! )
The one with John Barrowman, WHO I NOW ALSO LOVE, despite never seeing Torchwood. He's so adorable. And HIS SCOTTISH ACCENT. Ugh, so charming. (Anyway, for those of you who don't want to watch the entire episode: "Let's have a gay-off!" DYING.)
( You have out-gayed me, Barrowman! )
5. TOM HARDY, WHY SO PRETTY.
6. Gorgeous, gorgeous Eames/Arthur fanart.
