A word about VANITAS

In his blog, 儿-JIN- posted his feelings and hopes for NEGA's second full album, VANITAS. The post was really insightful and revealing, so I thought I'd share it with you guys. This is a general translation—I couldn't give a perfect one even if I wanted to—so some details are wrong, but the important concepts are all there. Enjoy!

儿-JIN- 2011-07-31: “VANITAS”
At last week's oneman, we finally announced our 2nd FULL ALBUM.

We've actually been decided on it for a long time though;

even when we were PERESTROIKA, we had plans for a new album after reviving.

After all, I think that an album is the way to show the true worth of a band.



Lately the trend is to just include favorite songs on an album—

each song may be cool, the album may be good, but no real significance of the artist is conveyed.

But few artists realize this.

I listen to a variety of music, but the only albums are ones from really good artists.



The year before last, we released our first album “GRAVE OF THE SACRIFICE.”

The variety in that album was wonderful, as was the way that it flowed,

and I think it was the best album that could have been produced by that ネガ,

but despite that, when I listen to it now, it was really unrefined.



The 1st album had great qualities, but I want to surpass it;

as NEGA I want to produce a broader, deeper album.

There may be singles, or songs which make fans say “I like it.”

But I want to transcend that.

After a complete listen to the album, something larger should be left behind in your heart...



We'll make that kind of album.

Just wait half a year or so!

So like I said, some details are wrong, but the larger ideas should be clear. It seems that JIN at least is serious about making a real “album,” rather than just a collection of singles or nice songs. And I'm sure that the other guys agree. Hopefully they pull it off and make something really nice!

And, putting on my speculation hat for a moment, hopefully this means that most of the songs will be new—and if the “half a year” holds true, we'll hopefully have the album by February or so!

Cure vol.96 KISAKI interview summary

 ~to go on endless way~

he shocked about the accident at 6/18 cuz they tried their best for the day.

and the accident was not fire. just the effect's trouble.

he is really sorry for the fans who was in the live.

and he was really mad bcuz of it at the day in back stage w

LIN will do Transfer Performance in same live house BIG CAT.
its hard to use same place bcuz of the accident.
but the manager of BIG CAT (ex.La:Sadie's) take the day for LIN.

and the reason of activity stop of LIN is,,
the work in the office (UCP) is confused cuz he work on office and LIN at same time.
but he said,he is president of UCP so,he has to consentrate to the problem of UCP.

so,LIN will stop once,and revival from 2012.
he said its not disband w so,dont misunderstand

and now,NEGA revival and Megaromania is acting well as face of UCP so,its really good.

and he will take time to produce them so,thats reason too.

and he think,the result of LIN is not enough.
he wanted to show the good result at 6/18 but,the accident happened so,its really disappointing accident for him.
so,he focus to transfer performance oneman now.

the activity of LIN was not all good.sometimes it has really hard and painful things.
so,it needed 1yr for doing oneman.

anyway,the ONEMAN SHOW is really special event in him.
cuz,the ONEMAN SHOW is exist for showing the band's world firmly.
so,he never wanna do oneman in small live house.
and he think,the RUIDO & ASTRO HALL is not enough big.
he wanted to do oneman in bigger place.

and u can feel the world of LIN at once in the album independent MAZE. so,he wants to be looking forward to it.
and in future,they will do live more importantly maybe.

[about KISAKI PROJECT]

its on the extension wire of the hobby.
the main activity is LIN anyway.

he made songs and really like it but, some songs are not mach to RIKU's voice.
and he wants to make it to be opened.

then,the old friend vocalist said[wanna sing the song],and he wrote lyrics for the song.
so he wanted to do together with him (person is still secret)

and support members are really good and well w
he wants to receive a stimulus from then.

and it will be informed in August ,so,looking forward to it.

before activity stop,he will do his best at the tour & oneman in October too.
