We had a fantastic time this year at SDCC, though the three of us only spent one day in full Torchwood costume together (Sunday) and were short our Tosh and Owen who couldn't make it to the con. We made it over to the huge Doctor Who/Torchwood gathering in the Sails Pavilion and had a great time there snapping photos, much like the one above.
Just thought i'd put a few pics of of our Torchwood people Jon Hart and Gwen Cooper. I thought they were a little short-shrifted in my origional photos.
Okay, first and formost I want to note it's great to be here. I founded and "help" run a group called DFW Cosplay Gallifrey, which is very active on facebook, and you should look us up, what we first did was try to gather as many doctors as possible, in the hope of having a full contingent of Doctors. This process as you might imagine has been interesting, because, as always, even when we have all our doctors, we can't get all of them to show up.
The success however, has been noted as we do go to conns together, and we recently invaded Akon and Scarburough Faire in Texas and were allowed into the Scarburough parade. A great achievment and honor I'm told, but also within the Galifrey, we had a torchwood contigency.
As you can see on the right, our torchwood people were still lacking, and wanting a larger connection, and beautifully between faire outings each of us adjusted and tweaked our costumes.
Another neat example is that our two captains agreed to both be time agents, and one became Captain john Hart, which really created a stronger bond between them.
Despite this, most of the Torchwood people were immediately regulated to companions, not a bad concept, given that they are the offspring, mostly of seasons 1 and 2, except for Owen. As a joke, i had explained to a few friends, that i wanted to get as many torchwood people together to rumble with some of our doctors, but all in fun, the torchwood people were good sports. Still, we were always short the full contignecy, and we would lose a Tosh, and Gain a Tosh given the right day. One invasion, We had most of the group, though our Owen Harper looked more like Rory and less like Owen.
In an attempt to bridge the gap and secure myself a second costume, i vowed to rp ianto. I scheduled through our Tosh a photoshoot at U T Southwestern which at first was disastrous. Poor communucation was to blame as well as timing. The good news is i went upstairs and our Tosh, showed me some of the places we could use. Indeed, there were several excellent spots, including a lab, and a few great looking open areas. That time, i was only able to shoot Tosh for some good looking portrait shots, but using her knowledge, i was able to note how good it looked, even for a few shots. I decided at that point to put my ear to the grindstone, and really really get the shoot together.
The great thing, was that this place also had magnificent dark stairwells, so after a while, i plotted, and i poked and as my good friend Murphy likes to say, "I put out feelers."
2 weeks in advance, and guess what, i got a majority of people, to say. "Yes, I will be there," so i went to work on my Ianto costume and guess what, we lost our Owen. In a desperate attempt to get another Owen, i asked our Tosh if she knew anyone. Her answer was, yes, but he was her brother and she didn't like the idea of him "playing Owen." So, i told her that I would play owen, and that he would play Ianto, and having little time, I put together an "Owenfit."
Side note: Torchwood is badass show, so i got everybody a gun. Yep, everybody gets a gun on Torchwood, so i begged and bought, but got us each a gun, and each gun had a little character. Tosh, i gave a little automatic too. Gwen, I gave a large automatic too. I gave Ianto a shot gun and I gave myself a sweet little automatic with a laser sight.
And i think the results speak for themselves, but this is a fairly great group shot taken by Maddie Smith and its one of my favorites.
My Jack cosplay came out GREAT! Thanks to all who helped out in my previous post. Obviously, it being my coat, there are things I'm not happy with, but if I don't point them out to people, they'll never be noticed. XD

Also, I only used barely half of the material I'd bought for Jack's coat. It's a mid-weight bluish gray wool, and I've got about 5.5 yards left. (I say "about" because there's a strip cut off about a yard of it, which I used for the belt.) If anyone's looking for material for this coat, this one is just about perfect... I paid $10/yd for it but would be willing to part with the remainder for less.
