Snoring Beauty (trope)

Tony: Awww! She sleeps like an angel...
Jessie: [snores loudly]
Tony: [still love-struck] ...With a deviated septum!
Tony Ciccolini (about Jessie, who's fast asleep), Jessie

In Fictionland, every girl sleeps like a princess. She lies in bed, elegant, beautiful, and flawless as she dreams peacefully with a Sleep Mask plastered over her eyes. It's all so...

HOOOONNNK! SHOOOO! HOOOONNNK! SHOOOO!

Wait a minute, what's that sound coming from her room? Is it a sick elephant?
No.
A monster of some sort?
No.
It's her! That noise is indescribable.

She's snoring!

Yep, your sleeping beauty is actually a snoring beauty.

Oftentimes in fiction, snoring is more of a masculine trait reserved for men. But every now and then, it's the girl who is sawing logs as those sleeping with her suffer from her nightly symphony. And it could be one you least suspect, such as Ms. Fanservice, a beautiful princess, the girl next door, or the Class Princess.

While it's not wrong for a girl to snore, it can create comedy or something more meaningful. But it is embarrassing for the girl in question as it is annoying to her suffering partner. Especially if she's a Shrinking Violet or a socially awkward heroine (even more so if she's at a sleepover). If it proves to be a nuisance to the person sleeping with her, they'll be unable to sleep and try to find ways to drown out her snoring.

Nevertheless, one of these reactions might follow if the sufferer tells her she snores:

  1. She could be flabbergasted and defensively deny the whole thing.
  2. Feels guilty and promises to find a fix for it.
  3. Knew all along and just laughs it off, handing the sufferer a pair of earplugs.

The 3rd reaction is reserved for those with a tomboy streak, the Sleepyhead or someone who is more open-minded.

However, there are some who believe that a girl snoring is not an off-putting thing. They may find that trait attractive (more so if she's Adorkable), finding out can give them solace in knowing that even pretty girls can have their flaws, or they stay ignorant because she just looks so gorgeous when she sleeps, regardless of the noise. It may lead to a heartwarming moment.

If she is a sleepwalker, snoring can be helpful in finding her if she ever walks out of the house.

Her snoring can be followed by a either or a combination of a steady stream of drool coming out of her mouth, sleep talking, Zs flying out of her mouth, a bubble of snot coming from her nose or, if she's Ms. Fanservice and she snores loud enough, Gainaxing.

This can often be compared to, or a lot of the time overlap with, Loud Sleeper Gag, Misophonia Gag, and Cute, but Cacophonic.

In Real Life, girls have just as much of a chance of snoring as boys do. It's all a matter of genetics, age, weight, and alcohol intake among other factors.

And since snoring is a very common problem, No Real Life Examples, Please!
