For Vogue's September 2012, which celebrated the magazine's 120th anniversary, Christian Dior created a beautiful set of advertorials featuring Daria Strokous photographed by Patrick Demarchelier. The series of ads celebrates couture craftsmanship in the house's various aspects, including perfumes, jewelry, acessories, haute couture, and ready-to-wear.

After Chanel brought trainers back into vogue in their haute couture spring/summer 2014 collection, it seems everyone is eager to make a statement by incorporating them into their brands. Christian Dior is the latest brand to join the trainer team by combining elements of stilettos and trainers into one shoe. Nike sneakers have already been cropping up on the street style scene for quite some time now, but with options like stiletto-trainers from Dior and couture trainers from Chanel, they will inevitably be adopted by more fashionistas. As this latest trend takes hold, it will be interesting to see if the trend is here to stay or if it will be cast aside as the idea's novelty wears off. Chanel's inclusion of trainers in the couture collection was new and exciting because it cast off some of the rigid boundaries under which couture designers normally work. But, how realistic is it to expect women to covet a pair of stiletto-trainers? Are they a new staple for women's wardrobes or will they simply be shoved to the back of their closets?

The Elegant Universe by Nick Knight

For a live shoot that explores the mathematics of beauty, Nick Knight united with couture doyenne Lady Amanda Harlech and model and physics scholar Alexia Wight. With Knight on camera and Harlech on styling, the editorial - which will appear in V magazine - celebrates the science and skill behind S/S 14's greatest haute couture and draws on Wight's interest in Calabi–Yau manifold. Kev Stenning will add to the scientific tone of the shoot by 3D scanning the fashionable works of art. Wight was shot in a range of couture pieces from the likes of Chanel, Christian Dior, and Armani. In addition, Noel Stewart contributed a fantastic magnolia headpiece to the shoot.
