Fun fact: The Iraqi Air Force currently operates the worst modern version of the General Dynamic F-16 Fighting Falcon, the F-16IQ, a heavily downgraded version that among other things can’t use the AMRAAM long-range air-to-air missiles, and instead has to use the much older and less capable AIM-7 Sparrow as its main radar-guided missile, leaving it akin to late 80’s export models, but at the cost of a fully-fledged modern American fighter.

This is the main reason why Iraq has now ordered the french Rafale, as it will give them a true modern multirole fighter jet, without limitations imposed by Washington and Tel-Aviv.
