one of the most annoying ripple effects of fandom culture is the way so many people can’t seem to keep it in perspective that at the end of the day they’re just talking about art. it feels like i am trapped between people who are like “if you dare criticize the thing i like you are basically personally coming into my house and stealing my dog and shooting my jewelry” and people who are like “global communism is being stopped from succeeding because steven universe is on the air.” and call me a centrist but i don’t think either of those things are true

some of you egg crackers genuinely think closeted trans women are guileless and helpless and confused and in need of your help in particular. the second you're talking to somebody who thinks like this and doesn't try to guard their rhetoric these arguments get to literally levels of, like, "yeah, if i don't save this fragile little girl (from herself) through my superior knowledge of her hysteric wants, the poor thing will suffer and die" without the pretty words. do you not see how absurdly misogynistic that is. closeted trans women have internalities. who the fuck do you think you are to that closeted trans woman who barely knows you?

the line of thinking from 'many villains have been queer coded (due to homophobia)' to 'being a villain is queer coded' is so fucking dismal. you people do not think with your brains

I think trans women should be allowed to win competitions without being used as proof that trans women are “dominating” women’s sports and I think trans men should be allowed to have big roles in media without being used as proof that trans men benefit from male privilege. I think trans people should be allowed to succeed in life without being used as a way to claim that cis women are inherently the most disadvantaged, when usually those trans people fought just as hard (if not harder) to get where they are than their cisgendered peers. I don’t like how trans people have to fail in order to convince two-bit feminists not to attack us for a privilege that we don’t have.

someone wrote “you are loved” next to a passage about trans people in a book I have. I have no way of knowing who it was but I think they achieved their goal when writing in it because i’m so happy about this
