gave him his own cape to dry and ward off the cold, since nothing else was available and the commander didn't really feel like testing his patience again.

so are dragon beasts very small?

Avatar

Typically the smallest are around 1,5 m (4'11'') tall at the shoulder, and the taller ones usually reach 3 m (9'11''), but there's always variations who are shorter or taller than the average. Most dragons on Ymsath are very long from head to tail (+ their wingspans), so while some may be shorter than the average human, they still outsize them by a lot.

The smallest ones that fall under the dragon umbrella on Ymsath are drakes, which like dragonbeasts do not breathe fire. They are winged, but typically their wings are suited for flying over short distances (akin to pheasants and other landfowl; using their wings to evade danger very swiftly). Drakes are almost never taller than 1 m (~3'3''), and the vast majority is around 50 cm tall (~20''). Drakes are the most social type of dragon, usually living in groups of around 5-10 individuals. Usually to establish the safety of their group, drakes will gravitate towards living in the territory of a greater dragon, in exchange doing a part of the hunting on the greater dragon's behalf, if it accepts them. To see if a dragon host will accept their stay, the drakes will periodically bring them gifts, and if their host reciprocates, they'll take it as a sign of welcome. If near human settlements, some drake groups may try to take a human for their host, and if an individual isn't familiar with draconic gifting custom, they may inadvertently invite a whole group of dragons into their house.

okay I have questions!!! I’ve read a little about Ieyasu, Aun Ghoul, and Inaedrya but I’m curious how they all are connected to one another? Like what their relationships are I guess is what I mean. I think if I remember correctly Ieyasu and Aun Ghoul are connected to each other like indefinitely through everything but I can’t remember how that works…anyways let me stop yapping and let you explain I want to know!!!

Woooo I love to hear questions !! :} You know I'm absolutely terrible at putting definitive labels on the relationships between my characters and partly I like it that way but also it can be confusing at times lol To put it very briefly, Dyra and Yasu have some romantic tensions between them, with him quite outraged at her life situation and how much it reminds him of his own youth, thus feeling very protective over her, and she in him finds a sense of safety, and someone who genuinely listens and seems to care for her wellbeing. So yeah I was a bit constricted by the word limit on the character connections on AF so I’m glad to expand on them a bit more especially now since they’re in the forefront of my brain 24/7 :}
