rereading tda and remembering how ty was genuinely manhandling kit the entire series and kit just went along with it

love love looove kit and julian getting a read on each other in LoS. we mostly see this insight on jules emotions from emma, but kit cracks it barely a day into knowing him

and julian recognizing the same kind of anger reflected in someone else. kit who is angry at the whole world and not a single person around him has picked up on it before

and both are lying liars who lie. just kit lies to protect himself and julian lies out of the need to protect his family. beautiful.

also noticed the tendency in tsc where the character starts super critical of the clave in the first book (tessa, mark, kit) only for it to be dismissed or brushed over by the end of the trilogy

Cordelia Carstairs my best friend Cordelia Carstairs.

I love Daisy for many reasons, but I especially enjoy how clear-sighted she is. She can see what's wrong with the world, so she'll do whatever she can to save it. In this particular instance, we also see that she craves power specifically so that she can do the most good for the world without worrying what anybody else has to say about her (a brown girl) daring to act decisively. This leads to her making some impulsive decisions, but it all comes from the knowledge that she needs to make decisions for herself or else risk others making the decision on her behalf. Cordelia never waits to earn approval, she just goes out there and starts saving lives, and that's what makes her a hero.

i think the way CC pushes the whole 'herondales owe carstairs" in your face is doing a bit of disservice not only to will and jem but to the other people in their family line, but kit seeing emma for less than two minutes and feeling confident enough to call her for help in the time of need and emma being the one to save his life is actually very poetic to me

#it works when it's showing and not telling #because then jem has to spell it out in the next scene and i immediately get irritated #will tying herondales to carstairs is iconic but it would've been more significant if the characters in the world talked about it less #because will was once cursed and then he accidentally blesses his whole family line to be tied to his parabatai's #and then cassandra has to spell it out fifty times and i get annoyed and i hated it because it's one of my favourite moments from tid

amusing to me that despite the horrors of cults, parent death, and human sacrfices in lady midnight, kit and ty managed to be in their own romcom bubble. i could practically see the hearts flying around on the background of pink:

if asked, julian blackthorn would never admit that he has a favourite child but the more i get back into tda the more i am sure his favourite child is ty. one hundred percent.

#people will argue with me that it's tavvy but i would argue that julian constantly felt jealous of other people getting ty's favor over his #and ty being completely oblivious about it makes it kinda funny #i think it’s also one of the reasons why he feels so much affection towards kit #who is the first non family person ty's age to treat ty with so much admiration #i am so desperate to get ty's pov of jules even more than his pov on kit #the shadowhunter chronicles
