I personally think Disney did the characters dirty. How often do we see a neurodivergent character involved with a person of color in a close adult (possibly a sexual attraction) relationship in a Disney production?

They could have been a couple. Maybe even have a few bumps in the road like what happened with Tech and Omega regarding how he processes things differently (and specifically Tech not realizing he should say goodbye to Phee) while navigating their relationship. Would it be lovers or just really tight friends (she's allosexual and he possibly ace)?

Maybe it's just me, but I can't help it might have something to do with the current social/political climate and the corporate aversion to anything that might upset the shareholders or the normies...

A mixed race couple was too much for them.

Yeah, we got human and Twilek pairings in Star Wars but they are non black coded.

I just watched the bad batch and I love that tech and echo are the mechanics on the ship because they're EXACTLY the two types of mechanics that exist. tech's the one that leans over your car hood and just stares without touching anything and says something like "hmm yes I see it should be a problem with your rear left carburetor exhaust engine heating pipe a minor adjustment should do I shall see to it immediately" and echo is the guy who leaves you waiting in the front office for two hours and then walks out and tells you he fixed whatever was wrong and it'll be twenty bucks if you pay in cash and don't tell anyone

The shop's smart dweeb and gutter punk.
