John coming back from a gruesome hunt, hands and shirt soaked in blood, to find his young son waiting patiently on the couch. Dean runs to his side as soon as he sees him, and John can’t help but scoop him up and cradle his head in his hands. He smears blood and bits of flesh through Dean’s dark blonde hair and he couldn’t care less. Dean wraps his little arms around John’s neck and whispers, “Did you get ‘em?” John nods.

“Are you okay?” John nods again. “Not hurt.”

Dean burrows his head further into his neck and John can feel a proud smile against his skin.

John kisses his boy’s red-stained hair.

He doesn’t even say “hey we have a lead on something to help us with the God thing be back soon” or even “we’re away on a hunt in Alaska see you later” it’s literally just “We’ve gone to Alaska” with 0 context. This could literally be interpreted as “yeah we’ve given up and we’re gonna retire to Alaska” because Sam refuses to give ANY OTHER DETAILS.

he does the same thing to Eileen even while she's actively asking for details over text. Literally what part of "Death might be coming for you and I like you so much :-(" is hard to explain over text. He's a disaster. I love him <3
